Selkirk Veterinary Hospital
Because they deserve it A commitment to excellence and compassion in your pet's health and well-being. We have a vision for Selkirk Veterinary Hospital. A vision where all pets have access to the highest quality medical care possible. A belief that when you walk through our doors, you are much more than a client - you are a friend and a partner in your pet's wellness.

An idea that you should be treated with respect, and your questions and concerns addressed thoroughly. And a practice with a deep commitment to excellence and compassion in everything we do. Because you deserve no less. Our Team When you walk through the doors of Selkirk, you will have an incredible team at your back that truly cares about you and your pet.
Services
Dogs and cats require proper dental care, which consists of regular dental cleaning under a general anesthetic. A dental cleaning is much more than a cosmetic treatment. In addition to the scaling and polishing of your pet's teeth they are examined and X-rayed. Detailed notes are recorded so changes can be trended over time.
Fear Free is a new way forward in veterinary medicine. It is the focus on significantly reducing the stress and anxiety that a pet feels during their visit. This is important for a number of reasons. First and foremost, heightened stress levels alter your pet's physiology - affecting their blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature.
AAHA accreditation is a voluntary process. The mission of AAHA is to certify nothing less than excellence in everything you do. That's why, out of over 40,000 veterinary practices in the US and Canada, fewer than 15% are AAHA accredited. To become accredited, a veterinary hospital must undergo comprehensive evaluations from veterinary experts at AAHA on a regular basis.

Do NOT take your pet to Selkirk!! These people have no care for animals and care only about money. On numerous occasions we were treated like our dog should be put down rather than helped. After spending thousands of dollars on our dog it turns out every procedure recommended was not necessary. She was given several medications which in turn were actually harmful. We were forced to have our dog put under sedation on numerous occasions (because she gets nervous) usually we would muzzle her but Selkirk advised us they cant see dogs like this unless they are under sedation, and did you know a regular

Did my pups vaccination there today. Very professional, very genuine caring staff and extremely helpful doctor.
My first time there and I already think of them as "my veterinarian".
Great experience for both of us.

I am very greatfull that your clinic opened your doors to Shelby and then Sammich. Your staff's insite and dedication to their care is amazing and very very much appreciated. Going above and beyond standard care and leaving us with a feeling that you care about our furry family members as much as we do. Thank you to all the veterinarian's and all your dedicated staff <3

Ah, sadly, I haven’t actually been in here to see the vet. However, this place was recommended to me but every time I talk to the receptionist has left a bad taste in my mouth. I went in once to purchase some flea medication and she was so rude. I chalked it up to maybe she was having a bad day. Fast forward to present days... I call to see about an appointment and again, lacking in customer service. I’ve called a few times over the last year and a half to inquire about different things and every time I hang up the phone feeling really displeased with the human interaction I just had. So, I’m

Terrible and completely unprofessional. By far the most uncaring and money hungry vets I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY BRING ANY ANIMAL HERE FOR ANY REASON UNLESS LEFT WITH ZERO ALTERNATIVES. They Misdiagnosed my dog and told us we would need to start palliative care and would likely need to euthanize within 3 weeks. We chose not to take their advice so they sent us a letter refusing to treat our dog any longer. 2 1/2 years later she's still alive and happy no thanks to Selkirk vets and their uncaring vets and rude front desk staff. If I could

The reviews say it all. Unfortunately we didn't see these until we became yet another victim of this hell-hole

I called Selkirk Veterinary Hospital on Christmas Day and they took me in at 1 p.m. as my little Lacey was not doing very well. The Veterinarian was very thorough checking my Sheltie over. But at the end she said there was nothing more they could do for her so we had to make the very last decision that no one wants to make. They were very compassionate and caring as we spent our last moments with our girl. I would highly recommend this hospital for care of our animals. Thank you very much for your kindness at this time.

They were very good with my dog who can be difficult when he came in for his neuter. They were even better when we came back a few weeks later for a unexpected emergency surgery and stitches. Got us in right away and taken care of. Very caring and genuine. Dr. Maybank is awesome! Bear is happy to be all healed up and adventuring again.

Our pets are lemons, and these guys are great at fixing them up for us. Seriously though, the Veterinarians are as kind and genuine as they are knowledgeable. They're careful to explain any testing required, eager to talk you through their expertise on any diagnosis, and always provide us with an accurate estimate prior to treatment. They're as organized and prepared in an emergency scenario just as they are in a regularly scheduled appointment (we've done both!). Beyond that, they have always been extremely efficient in diagnosing and treating our pets which means that our pets are feeling better

To the wonderful team at Selkirk, thank you so much for your continued care through the process of losing my cat Peaches. Dr von der Porten provided continuous and appreciated care for me and Peach, checked in frequently just to ask how Peach was doing, and approached each challenge with honesty and compassion. I felt very comfortable and safe under the care of your team, and Peach obviously did too because she would purr and rub her cheeks on Dr von der Porten. Dr. Meyer delivered me the difficult news that Peach may not be around long, and her empathy in doing so proved that her advisers made

My partner and I brought our brand new 8 week old puppy into Selkirk Vet. As she is our first puppy ever, we were a little nervous about the whole vet experience. Walking into Selkirk was a breath of fresh air. Everything from Jacey's warm smiling welcome to Rebecca treating Ivy like she would treat her own fur baby. She was so gentle and playful and Ivy loved every minute of it - we had a hard time getting her out of the office! We have also worked quite a lot with Maude, who is just as wonderful. Always so kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. All in all, I couldn't have asked for
