Services
Carnegy Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary hospital located in Clayton Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia. We have been at our present location since 1995 with numerous expansions over the years. The practice of veterinary medicine is ever-changing and at an accelerating rate. Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of pets and owners, and to perform services in a professional and caring manner.
Our hospital is able to perform most routine laboratory bloodwork on site, and in addition, uses the services of several other labs both in Canada and the U.S. as the need arises. Radiology services are on site, and we will refer your pet's radiographs for specialist consultation if required. ECGs are transmitted directly to veterinary specialists for interpetation and the most up-to-date recommendations available.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we will usher you into an examination room as soon as we have one available. Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays.
AAHA: Our hospital is fully accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. This we believe to be a truly beneficial affiliation as it affords us many opportunities for continuing education. Our staff welcomes the triannual inspections of our facility to ensure that we maintain the high standards set by AAHA.
We are equipped to handle a wide variety of medical conditions, including emergencies. Because we can perform many diagnostic procedures in-house, we can often give you immediate answers and start treating your pet faster. In some cases, your pet may require hospitalization and further diagnostic tests.

A big thank you to Dr. Lindsay and Dr. Sprenger for Billie’s enucleation surgery and follow ups. He’s doing amazing and so happy I chose a vet clinic that cares! During his rapid struggle with glaucoma, I was… able to get him in to see a vet quickly (unlike other vet clinics around). The online booking portal is so convenient for scheduling appointments and even with a power outage and storm getting in the way of our surgery appointment, Carnegy staff were quick to reschedule his surgery immediately. Thank you Carnegy Animal Hospital for caring for my Billie.

Regrettably, Carnegy does not answer their phones during Open Hours and there is no facility for leaving messages. I had drive over to order a prescription refill and in the parking lot, met other Pet Owners with the same experience. Not acceptable at this time of trying to minimize contact. Not to mention, what if I was dealing with an emerg?

Finding a good veterinarian for your pet is not an easy task, in saying that, I highly recommend you to visit Carnegy Animal Hospital, the staff is as friendly as it gets, this is one of the best in HRM.
Suma (our cat) lived to be over 20 years old, thank you Dr. Lindsay as well as all the staff for all your help getting her there.
You always made her visits as special as they could be.

As an owner of a very skittish cat around new people and places it's always a concern to find a place I know she will be in good hands. Upon a referral from a friend to Carnegy Animal Hospital I took a leap of faith when she wasn't feeling at all herself and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Luna was extremely at ease with Dr. Lindsay and didn't stir up a fuss with any injections or xrays and Dr. Lindsay was very thorough in explaining my treatment choices around my budget concerns while still getting the best care for girl. The gals at the reception desk were

When they say 'cat friendly' they mean it! I can not think of bringing my blossom to another place. We've been coming hear because we adopted our cat from CAPS and it included a free spray so we had our needles and everything done here prior to her surgery so we could make sure the doctor was someone we liked and we could trust.
I would not go anywhere else moving forward. The staff are so nice and they don't mind when I let blossom out of her carrier because she's literally terrified.
They literally treat you and your fur baby like family!
I can not thank them enough

I like this location the most. Every time I go they make excellent recommends. I never feel like they are tying to rip me off or make a sale.
Today we purchased flea and tick medication. I asked for what I normally get and the young man at the front recommended a different kind. It had better coverage for flea and ticks and was less expensive.
Highly recommended********

Staff made a typo and quoted me the price of a male neuter instead of a female spay. Got the surgery done and price was significantly higher. Admitted their mistake when we sent them the original quote and said oops sorry but do you think they care that what we budgeted for was nowhere near what they charged? Did they honour their quote since it was their mistake? Nope. Not my first bad experience with this clinic but will definitely be my last.

The care these guys give to their furry patients is amazing. The vet we saw recently with one of the cats was great. She was pleasant and easy to talk to and didn't make you feel like an idiot for asking silly questions.
The clinic is clean but the waiting area is small. You feel like you're sitting on top of others waiting. Not much seating and not much space to separate anxious/nervous pets from others.
While the care is fantastic and the service is great I find them to be expensive. $120 for a simple visit seems a bit steep. We willingly paid as they took such great care of our

I really enjoy taking my dog here. Dr Bail has always always always given our dog Zoey the best care. I can not even express how good she is with both people and animals. She is very fair. She is not the type of vet to try to sell you expensive treatments, food, or services. You do not walk out of there gasping for air over the bill.

A little expensive, but overall the staff are very understanding and helpful. They saved my cat's life and have always been very eager to answer all of my questions about my rescued kittens various medical conditions. They also did very well with my 140lb German Shepherd when he went in for a physical exam, they were not intimidated at all by a dog whom was 32in at the shoulder. Very professional and confident in their abilities. The waiting times are a little long, but how could you complain when everything else is so wonderful?

A fantastic animal hospital! My friend has been taking her dog there for more than 10 years and each time, she is very pleased.
She takes one of her dogs there to get groomed by a lady named Michelle. Michelle is excellent with her fragile, little shitzu who has nearly seen the end of her days. She is reasonably priced and does a great job. She does find it hard to get an appointment with Michelle unless you've already booked it months in advance. She usually has to been 4 haircuts a year, 3 months apart. She normally makes all of her years worth of appointments in January.
