Founded in 1897, the Calgary Golf & Country Club moved to its fourth and current site on the banks of the Elbow River in 1909 and began play in 1911, having originally played over three separate primitive courses on land to which the club had no title. This was common practice in the early days of golf in North America, where urban expansion forced golf clubs to find new homes outside of a growing city core.
Originally laid out by American architect Tom Bendelow in 1911, the club enlisted the services of famed Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. in 1922 for a princely sum of $1500 to transform the golf course into the design that in large part remains today.

We had a course here. The food was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. However your not allowed cell phones on the property which is fine if it's when the golf course is open or if you are going for dinner with the regular members. But when you have a course or conference in the off season and have the place booked I don't agree! Because the speaker was asking us to look up answers for his coarse & a couple of the Dr's had emergency calls. One Dr got in trouble for taking an emergency call in the parking lot.

Had lunch here with a member today. The food was great and even got to meet the chef.
Its nice to see a place in the city where cellphone use is non-existent. I can't remember the last time I ate a meal and didn't see people looking at their phones the whole time.
The staff all seem very friendly and knew the majority of their guests... advantages of being a member I suppose.
Can imagine how beautiful the grounds are during the summer time. I was there in winter and it was nice.
