Owen was born and raised in Midland, a third generation resident, his grandfather arriving from Collingwood during the Depression to work at the old Aberdeen elevator on Georgian Bay.Owen graduated in 1991 from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, specializing in finance and economics.
