Jonathan achieved his Diploma in Management and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Reading in England. As the Chief Financial Officer for several small and medium sized (SME) companies in the manufacturing and distribution industries in the UK. He installed business and management processes to achieve a sale to a third party in excess of the owner's highest expected price.
He helped turn around a failing company by changing its business focus from its products to its customers' needs. He enabled a company to earn the highest gross margins in its industry by leveraging financial and other data from its information systems. After moving to Canada Jonathan qualified here as an accountant and continued working with SMEs in the contracting and manufacturing sectors before establishing his public accounting practice.

Services
T2 Corporate income tax returns. Every company is required to file a tax return each year. I invest in software that greatly reduces the time (and therefore cost) of preparing a tax return and all the required schedules. I usually prepare T2s in combination with an NTR or Review engagement. T1 personal tax returns.
Tax planning is part of everything I do. Whether I am preparing financial statements or preparing tax returns I am always looking for opportunities to save my clients tax. Now and in the future. I see my role as ensuring you pay every single penny of tax you owe according to the Law. And not a single penny more.
Bookkeeping is not a productive part of your business. A business owner or manager should be spending their time running their business and not writing up the books. Bookkeeping done badly is expensive. Not only can you pay people more than you owe, you can fail to bill your clients for all the work you do.
As someone who has spent much of my career at the sharp end of business, I can offer a different perspective than many other accountants. This can provide more value to my clients. I understand how owners can be overcome by the day-today challenges of managing a business and how they can quickly lose sight of why they started up in business in the first place.
The controllership program brings this all together. It is like having a professional accountant at your side at all times, but one you only pay when you need them. I am a great believer in dashboard management. As a company owner you do not need to see the detail of your business on a day-to-day basis.
