The Silver Inn is a family-run restaurant that has been offering original Peking-Style Cuisine since 1975. We introduced Calgarians to their first taste of Peking-style cooking with dishes such as ginger beef, hot and sour soup, grilled pork dumplings, chicken and cashew in yellow bean sauce and many more.
Our family created these delicious dishes by adapting the classic Chinese recipes to match the locally available products. Fresh ingredients combined with the highest standards result in delicious Chinese food that will satisfy your appetite. The items on our menu are made from scratch, everyday, including our dumplings and noodles.

Silver Inn has been in business for a very long time, exactly where it is today.
No doubt, like every other restaurant, they have been affected by the Covid crisis, but old classics have a way to never go out of style.
The food is simple, authentic, tasty, fresh and quick to arrive at the table. The staff is friendly and ready and the location is convenient.
The dining room is perhaps a bit old-fashioned looking, but in a way, this is also part of the experience.
I have enjoyed every meal I had in this place, most of them shared with work colleagues.
Invariably, when my colleagues and I go

Finally got around to trying the home of ginger beef. Was not disappointed at all. I would have to say they have the best batter - deep fried Chinese food that i have tried so far. I will firstly admit that there spicy squid is now my favorite beating out my old go to (golden moon) the squid was fried in a crisp fresh tasting batter and seasoned just right. The ginger beef was fried just right with a tangy yet mildly spicy sauce drizzled over it, very good. Also worth mentioning there take on Wor wonton. Using a beef broth really changes things, it was quite good, decent won tons too. I will for

I would give half a star because we didn't get sick, came on the recommendation from a work mate. The people in the front looked like they were not happy that we came, the atmosphere is extremely dated and unhappy looking. The food ginger beef, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour pork, mixed veg. Wonton soup. All arrived less than hot ! The rice on the greasy side, the balance ofthe food including the rice was flavorless no flavor clues that usually help to identify. Absolutely not worth even one third the cost $77.00 Definitely a expensive lesson on where not to eat! Go to a supermarket and pick up

New to this part of the city and wanted to order Chinese to celebrate my birthday. Silver Inn is close to where we are now and supposedly the creator of Ginger Beef back in the day. Saw a few not-so-great reviews which gave us pause, but also some really positive reviews so we figured we'd give it a try. Unfortunately, we should have listened to the not-so-great reviews. Ginger beef was soggy with absolutely no flavor - very bland - probably the worst we've ever had anywhere. Lemon chicken was, as others have said, a mixture of white and dark meat with fat, flavourless, and not all that visually

Silver Inn is the authentic Northern Chinese style food unsurpassed in the city - in fact it compares favourably or exceeds any of the best kitchens I have experienced in decades of Asian and North American business travel. I especially enjoy the unpretentious atmosphere which is focused completely on the quality of the dishes such as the original Ginger Beef or the Mushu Pork. The dumplings are a family favourite and always prepared perfectly. I always look forward to coming home to Calgary and experiencing one of the best in Chinese Cuisine.

My family started going here in 1985 and we’ve been going back on a close to monthly (sometimes weekly) we’ve brought many many people with us and now all of them have come back. We tend to order the same… things as we’ve fallen in love with the amazing grilled dumplings and tender ginger beef but the rest of the dishes are wonderful also. Thank you for always being here for us!

We love this restaurant! My wife has been coming here her whole life. Their excellent recipes have been passed down through generations and did you know they invented Ginger Beef? Really! When family comes from… out of town this is our go to place. I love their food and the staff! I’m so happy you are opening again with take out!
