Our Independent General Insurance Brokerage was established in 1970 by Roger Baughan after he retired from the Canadian Army in Wainwright, AB. Daughter Darlene Baughan joined the firm in 1986 after moving back to Wainwright. She has her CAIB designation and over 32 years of experience in Insurance and Alberta Registries.
Baughan Agencies Ltd. has been a proud part of the Wainwright community for over 47 years. Our connection with the town began when our founder Roger Baughan, retired from the military and began what is now our family business. We are currently on our 3rd generation of family running the business. Our Insurance Brokers and Staff are committed to finding a solution to your insurance needs for your family and your business.
She is working towards her Level II designation now. If you can't find Amber in the office you will most likely see her running her four children to their activities and sports. He is working towards his CAIB designation and has CAIB 1 & 2 already. Ty is enjoying his new Insurance career and is a quick learner.
Shawna has been with Viking Insurance since 1998. A long time loyal employee, she has extensive knowledge of all the insurance products she sells. She has also obtained her Basic Registries Certificated to help out on the front desk when necessary. Shawna is a devoted Grandma, horsewoman and cowgirl.

Baughan was good however Wawanesa in the same building was not. Knowing that I have a piece of paper at home that says I can do a soft credit check and possibly lower my rates, the worker there told me (very arrogantly) that he doubts I can get cheaper rates after asking me what he could do for me when I walked in. He did everything in his power to not get me better rates and never once mention there was a letter mailed out about the credit check option. I had been in there twice since the letter was received and he still hasn't mentioned it.....

I've been with Baughan for about 15 years. I have kept my insurance with them although I have re-located out of the area many years ago. They snail mail me my documents with no issues. I rarely need to call them.
Recently there was a discrepancy with my rates (not their fault, it was Wawanesa) . Baughan acknowledged it and pro-rated my fees immediately . Unfortunately, they could only go back in their system part way to when it began because of a Wawanesa system change. I requested that the older data be looked into further. The owner ,Colter, called me himself. He had taken the time to research

They are fast and know what they are doing, but almost everytime I have gone to renew my car registration they have been rude in both how the have talked to me or how they have given over documents. It's almost like every day they have been in a bad mood...definitely no room for small talk or greetings.
