In 1978 Harry Mans decided to buy a moving company and he never looked back. Harry, a Dutch immigrant came to Canada in 1951. He saw an ad in the newspaper for a moving company, thought it was a great idea to have the family working together and, with help from his dad Albert, founded Mountaineer Movers, which today has 6 local trucks and 2 long haul trucks.
We at Mountaineer Movers are now running independently but have been helping customers move across Canada since 1990. We have private storage available at reasonable rates, from 1 day to long term with camera surveillance with only Mountaineer Movers staff having access to storage lockers. Mountaineer Movers in 2006 opened a box - supply and moving equipment store.

Services
Most shipments are weighted to get the actual weight of the shipment. Flat rates can also be arranged based on your list of goods. Cubic Measurement: Where the weighing of the truck is not possible, the shipment weight is determined by cubic measurement, based on 7lbs per cubic foot. If you're moving I highly recommend you use mountaineer movers. They have helped me out numerous times including a rather large move from Hamilton across the province and several pianos over the years. Everyone there is really nice, and very helpful. Sarah and Tom were great at getting everything set up for this last big move and the crew I had come in were fantastic, super friendly and very efficient. The price was great as well. Certainly much better than some other quotes I got. If you're not sure where to turn give them a call. I really appreciated the peace of mind this company afford me!

Hired Moutaineer movers was pleased with the customer service and move went smoothly. Unfortunately, an item went missing and although the company said they would look into the matter nothing has been done and I have had no further contact from them, hence this review. Such a shame really. The company has since contacted me and paid restitution however I cannot in good faith recommend them as trustworthy movers.

I would not recommend or use these movers again. .the move itself was smooth until it came time to pay. They charged me an extra 1/2hour and then said it was for travelling time from their store to my house. .and this was even before they started loading any furniture. i can see paying for travelling time from one place to another after the truck has been loaded with furniture. .but not the other.. They never stated to me that the time started from the moment they left their store. .When i inquired about it.. they said they look into it and call me back. .of course that never happened. Poor customer

You moved my Grand Piano to a second floor so smoothly with only a few pauses and grunts. Runners and rugs were placed and furniture positioned to my satisfaction.

Mountaineer movers moved us from Mt Hope to Picton. They were fantastic. From the gentleman who came to estimate the job, to Wendy who saved the day with our appliances and finally the team with the truck. The 3 gentleman were polite and pleasant and went the extra mile on the move out. I would highly recommend this company. I have moved several times and this was the best experience I’ve had.

In July I was in a real bind. The movers from Harvey moving scheduled for many months refused to unload our U-pack and left. They had an unfounded excuse as to why they couldn't unload the container. Said they could come back in 2 weeks. Someone gave me the number to Mountaineer Movers and when I called (and I was somewhat freaked out) Wendy reassured me and understood my dilemma.
