Carrie holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and was a CGA honour list student. She worked with a "Big Four" accounting firm before becoming registered for public practice. After almost twenty years of public practice and CFO experience, Carrie specializes in financial reporting, tax planning, and complex tax compliance for privately held businesses and their shareholders across a variety of industries.

The preparation and review of financial statements for corporations and other entities forms a large segment of our practice. Small owner managed business normally have no need for expensive audits or reviews. Compilations are acceptable when third party stakeholders have limited or no involvement nor the need for complex reporting and presentation standards.
The objective of a compilation engagement is to compile financial information into financial statement format based on financial information supplied by the client. It is not necessary to adhere to an appropriate accounting standard. A Notice to Reader communication, which is stamped or printed on each page or attached to the financial information, is a clear warning as to the limited use of the compilation engagement.
Where an audit is not required or the shareholders have waived the appointment of an auditor, financial statements may be prepared on a review basis. Enterprises that are not required by law to have an audit may still want some level of independent assurance to increase the credibility of their financial statements, for example, when seeking a loan from a bank.
