Technovation Engineering Ltd. was formed in Kelowna, B.C. in the summer of 1998 by Darren E. Wattie, P.Eng. Experience: involved in building services and construction related consulting engineering since 1992 as a designer, fire protection engineer and code consultant. 2018: Architectural Institute of BC & Engineers & Geoscientists BC Advanced Code Knowledge - Part 3 Code Portion of CP course.
We have extensive experience with all of the fire and life safety requirements in the B.C. Building Code and B.C. Fire Code. We are able to perform comprehensive reviews of all design disciplines to ensure compliance with Part 3 of the Building Code and other applicable parts. To complete this we use an internal design checklist which we have developed.
Technovation has the ability to use the NIST Fire Dynamic Simulator with a 3-D graphical interface program to provide fire and smoke modelling for the building/space. Performance based design defines specific Objectives (usually derived from the Building Code) and using 3-D fire/smoke modelling with prescribed measures to achieve those Objectives.
We are able to provide complete design and field review services for all types of fire protection systems. We have expertise with fire sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, aircraft hangar foam systems, special fire suppression systems including hybrid (water and inert gas) systems, exposure spray systems and fire pumps.
Completed BC Building Code Division B Part 3 building code reviews, site reviews and sealed reports for our client PSJ Developments Ltd. Part 3 deals with all fire and life safety items and access for persons with disabilities. We also provided applicable BC Fire Code review for more hazardous operations.
