DeMan Construction has been a family-centric business, right from the very beginning. Brothers Bas and Lee DeMan began working in their father's construction business in Holland during the 1940s. They came to Canada in 1953 with dreams of starting their own construction empire. In 1955, Bas and Lee DeMan established the Mississauga-based contracting business and called it DeMan Construction.

This project consisted of the design-build construction of an autoport depot at the CN Rail's McMillan yard.

The work completed included the design of structures, erection of the pre-engineered building and an office building/autoport complete with necessary electrical, plumbing, HVAC, partitions, roofing, fixtures and finishes, erection of a guardhouse and security gate, construction of full sized tractor trailer scales, approach ramps, scale house and traffic lights complete, and construction of necessary concrete pads, ramps, curbs and sidewalks.
