We went here for lunch after a long hike to see the breathtaking views on the Skyline Trail and we were starving so we must have ordered half the menu. Everything was delicious! Their lobster rolls may seem small, but it’s because they don’t fill them with mayo and other veggies to pad them out, it was densely packed with actual lobster. Their haddock burger was MASSIVE and could probably feed a small family on its own. The seafood platter was great and the spices on their fried shrimp was really good.
I definitely recommend planning your post-hike lunch here after the Skyline Trail, especially

Great food, excellent service, and good price point. It was too bad it was a super gray and misty day. But inside the restaurant it was well lit and had a much more cheery atmosphere compared to the outside.
A friend and I shared the fish and chips ($17.95) and fish cakes ($16.95). Both of us were very full afterwards. I probably would have liked the fish to be deep fried, but my friend wanted it pan fried (to be healthier, I suppose). But that doesn't mean the dish wasn't good; it was really just a difference in texture.

The Rusty Anchor greeted us after a long rainy hike with great views over the ocean and a cozy interior. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The meal we had (I'm pretty sure all from the lunch menu) was exactly what I had dreamed up for a trip to Cape Breton. We started with the mussels--I ordered for myself thinking my partner didn't like them but he was quickly converted as a result of the fragrant sauce and garlic bread! In hindsight we should have ordered 2 full servings; they were some of the best I have ever had.

We drove 2 hrs for this restaurant for mainly fish and chips. Learned about this place through a YouTube video on Cape Breton.
We had a lovely experience there with our 18mo. Luckily had a high chair and a bonus kids menu. So that was a relief for us.
Ordered cape breton style fish and chips and the burger that ate cape breton (without bacon). It they both tasted too fresh. Highly recommend it

We had a wonderful experience stopping by the Rusty Anchor during our time exploring Cape Breton. The ladies who took care of us for the evening were all so kind, patient and accommodating.
We ordered the Fisherman’s Plate and Haddock Dinner for the table, and split a Blueberry Lemonade. The vegetables included in the dinner had run out in the kitchen so our waitress replaced it with extra coleslaw and took a bit off the bill, which was a really nice gesture.
Fantastic service and definitely worth stopping by!

Great view of the ocean from their patio. Was not too busy when we stopped by for dinner on a Sunday, so our food came very quickly.
We had oysters, chowder, lobster mac and cheese, ribs, fish tacos and fish cakes. Highly recommend the fish cakes and fish tacos! They were delicious. (I loved the relish and beans that came with the fish cakes.) Portions were generous, but there was less lobster than expected in the lobster mac and cheese. We also enjoyed the blueberry sparkling lemonade, which was quite tart.
