Escape to Horseshoe Island camp on beautiful Mistinikon Lake for your next housekeeping fishing and hunting vacation. Our camp is a boat in facility that features 12 housekeeping cottages, all built right on the waterfront for a spectacular view of Mistinikon Lake. With its 100 miles of shoreline and 24 miles of water, Mistinikon Lake is a fishers playground.
We offer various styles of cottages, from our basic two bedroom mainland and island units, the large three bedroom, to our top of the line island and mainland deluxe units. Whichever cottage you choose, you will find it is spotlessly clean and well equipped for housekeeping use. All units enjoy a 3 piece bathroom, which contains a shower unit, toilet and sink.
In fishing, many people say the more shoreline there is the better the fishing. If this is true, then the waters surrounding Horseshoe Island Camp on Mistinikon Lake were created for fishing because we have over 100 miles of shoreline with numerous islands and rocky shoals. These features provide a haven for Walleye (pickerel), Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass.
Each fall, we cater to Black Bear hunters (bow or rifle) who are searching for a hunting adventure they'll never forget. Our guides have many years of experience and of course our modern housekeeping facility means you'll have a cozy place to call home during your expedition. We offer an excellent hunting package and enjoy a terrific success ratio.
Deposit of $200.00 per person is refundable on 90 days written notice, less 35% handling charge. A minimum of 2 persons per package is required. All costs and rates listed are per person. Hunters must provide a current or old hunters licence form the state or province in which they reside.

Excellent experience overall. Spent an amazing week at this camp. The cottages were clean and well supplied. A family run business efficiently run by very helpful staff. The boats available to visitors are perfect for the lake and kept in super condition. Equiped with electric start motors,live Wells and electric sump pumps. Flat interiors make them a comfortable way to spend a day fishing.
Set in an interesting and vast body of water, great fishing. Highly recommended.

My family has been going to Horseshoe Island for 20yrs and have never been disappointed. Fabulous scenery, fantastic walleye, pike and bass fishing, great blueberry picking and wonderful hosts Ian, Kylie and Linda are friendly and courteous and will happily address any concern. Feels like home to us now. It's absolutely the highlight of our year!

Absolutely 100% without a doubt the best place I've ever been for a trip up north. A land scape that money simply cannot buy. Absolutely breath taking scenery. Very well maintained cabins and it is managed by some of the best people I have ever meet. Please do yourself a favour and come here. Be aware there is no electricity but this is exactly the kind of thing you come to escape. Also be aware to respect the environment if you come. One of the last untouched places in the great north, lets keep it that way!!

Very well maintained cottages. Water was perfect, fish were bitting all week. Ian and his team bent over backwards to ensure our group was happy. Cottages were equiped well with all the utensils and cookery you would need. Beds were comfortable and clean. We had a small issue with our fridge but Kylie(apologies if this isn't the way it's spelt) was extremely quick to respond and had us up and running within half an hour. We will most definitely be coming back. Thanks you Ian for such a great holiday!

Last year was our first year staying here. The fishing was incredible and the owners are fantastic. If you are looking for a 3 day get away with the boys or a week long family fishing vacation, look no further. The best part is they give you a map of where the fish are and even tell you what methods you want to use to put fish in the boat.
