When you reach Highway 17, turn west (left) away from Dryden (or make a right if you'd like to stop in Dryden for a bite to eat or do some last minute shopping) and head towards Vermilion Bay for 45 km (28 miles). At Vermilion Bay, take Highway 105 north 172 km (106 miles) to the Municipality of Red Lake.

The waiting time at the beginning was a bit long just to get a menu and wait for order a drink before my meal.
The service was better afterwards.

Very nice place! Nice clean rooms, I liked the channel list (both on TV and the preview on paper).
The restaurant is awesome! Nice location with a lot of space (I managed to park my tractor trailer there without blocking anyone).

Absolutely terrible. There first time I stayed at the Balmer hotel was in winter of 2017. It was -25C outside when we arrived, no one thought to turn the heat on in the room (we even made reservations before hand). The mattresses was bagged out as hell and cigarette burns on the blanket (really?).
Second stay 2 years later. Stayed in the detached section of the hotel, tried to warm up some food in the microwave and it didn’t seem to turn on. I followed the power cord to the microwave and it was plugged into a power bar which was plugged into another power bar which was plugged into the wall

Kept looking for the hidden "do not disturb" sign at my table. Got my food, never saw the waitress again. Another drink or a " how is everything?" Would be nice. Salad was good.

Horrible cleaning staff short and curlies on the toilet urine stains on the floor, obviously no one knows how to mop a bathroom floor.
Hair on the sheets ..... getting worse over time
Now the wait staff .... inexperienced stunned halfwits have no clue who I think are here for the recognition more than the work 15 people in here max and I waited 1/2 hr to go get my own menu ..... all around dump

Went to the Balmer for breakfast. Had the Breakfast Skillet and it was excellent. Potatoes were perfect and the value for the price was excellent. They even brought my 2 girls' milk in the cutest little cups with lids. The Balmer is always a tradition with my family when I'm back in the Red Lake area (Balmertown).

Motel has a fantastic breakfast restaurant and sassy friendly staff. Rooms are well equipped and clean. Dinner restaurant has good food and plenty of drinks. If there is a crew change leaving town during your stay, wear ear plugs. Will definitely stay again!

They have a new menu and really enjoyed the chipotle chicken sandwich. The service was great today, but I usually have problems with basics like getting my drink refilled. Otherwise it's a nice place to have a hot meal.
