Lo-Rez Vibration Control
Lo-Rez steel-spring couplings having low torsional stiffness continue to be in demand for difficult applications such as reciprocating gas compressor drive systems, where unacceptably high stresses can occur in either the compressor crankshaft or driving rotor shafts.

Lo-Rez supplies steel-spring couplings rated from a few hundred to many thousands of horsepower such as the one shown below, destined for hydrogen compression service at a refinery in South-East Asia.Canadian Coast Guard 47-foot lifeboats 31 vessels built to date utilize BR4-ELS isolators to support the twin Caterpillar propulsion engines.

An epidemic of torsional fatigue failures plaguing engines, gearboxes, clutches, couplings, shafting and propulsion systems in general - along with extreme global vibration levels in ships - stimulated the development in the early 1950s of remedial equipment (such as vibration isolators, 'soft' flexible couplings and torsional vibration dampers) and specialist analytical services.
LO-REZ is known for taking on challenging vibration control problems. Since its inception in 1956, LO-REZ has had a long history of providing innovative solutions for vibration control issues. By consistently serving the industry since 1956, we have become well-known for our outstanding customer service.
Lo-Rez helical steel-spring flexible couplings provide low, constant and accurate torsional stiffness (within 8%), unchanged by age, wear, temperature, loading or vibratory intensity. The torsional analyst does not have to speculate as to how much error will creep into the torsional analysis calculations - the results will be certain.
The RT bolted rubber flexible coupling, most often used aft of the gearbox, provides dynamic mobility to a resiliently-mounted engine and minimizes bending stresses in the gearbox output shaft. Additionally, the RT coupling here has significant mechanical and acoustic attenuation, keeping engine and gear noise away from the low-speed shafting and bearings.
Viscous torsional dampers are vital components for protection of engine and reciprocating compressor crankshafts against fatigue failures. Lo-Rez standard or custom dampers (5" to 50" diameter) are normally available with thick-walled and bolted aluminum alloy housings to resist denting and provide good heat dissipation, as well as overhaul capability.
