Arlington Hotel
Imagine a time of steam engines and horse-drawn carriages, a time of lumberjacks and sawmills. This is the old Algonquin Park, a time when things moved a little slower and survival was a daily effort. For over 100 years, The Arlington has served the little village of Maynooth, Ontario.

It has served as safe haven for the region's travel-weary guests, provided shelter for the thousands of resource workers that peppered the area, and served up some the best times at its notorious bar, The Shot and Bottle Lounge. That bar was expanded in 1953 and today hosts some of the best musicians in Ontario.
Services
From hiking to biking, snowshoeing to skiing, canoeing to kayaking, dogsledding to horseback riding. Whether it's in Algonquin Park or just around the corner, all your outdoor adventures are a short drive from the hostel. Located on the beautiful York River in Bancroft, a mere 15 minute drive from Maynooth, Trips And Trails sells and rents it all.
On the corner of Highways 62 & 127 for gas, lubricants, live bait, tackle, ice, camp wood, ATM. LCBO bottle return and, yes, we still rent DVDs! Veggie samosas, beef & chicken samosas, tornado fries, Algonquin Butter Tarts, Caribbean meals on Saturdays. The Hastings Highlands Public Library strives to inspire lifelong learning, to advance knowledge and to strengthen our community.
No matter what time of year, Algonquin Park offers unparalleled adventure and beauty. While most outdoor enthusiasts and tourists flock to the main corridor of the Park, The Arlington Hostel offers the perfect jumping off point to see the other side of Algonquin Park; the road less traveled. Check out the oft overlooked South Gate on historic Old Peterson Road.
It's easy to visit The Other Algonquin! By bus or by car, your Algonquin Park adventure is a short drive from Toronto or Ottawa. The hostel is located in the tiny village of Maynooth, just 15 minutes from the South Gate of Algonquin Park and 30 minutes from the East Gate. The biggest town in the region, Bancroft is just 15 minutes to the south.

Took a little bit time to check in, but the rooms are clean and cultured, the staff are nice, the washrooms are cultured and clean too. The aesthetic suits the surrounding area of Algonquin Park and Papineau Beach. Clean well water, fully equipped kitchen, and a great experience overall. Only 15 minutes from beach and 30 minutes from Algonquin Park. Grocery store right infront too! To say the least, the #purplepalace does the job and for simple folk like me that’s more than enough.

This place smells like mold and mildew is everywhere. You stand in the shower and it drops a foot down. Probably was server water damage. Wouldn't be surprised if it drops through the floor soon! This place had bed bugs. We have bits all over our arms, hands, necks, and heads...so disgusting! If any hitched a ride home with us this place will be sorry. No structural work has been fixed on this place only cosmetics to try and hide everything. The railings are not even attached to the walls. Make sure you don't try and climb them if you've been drinking. This place is on a slant. You feel like your

Wish I had stayed here longer but I really enjoyed my short stay here. Super cool hotel, if I stay again I’ll check out another room. Stayed in the “Monty Python” room and really enjoyed it. Wish I got to check out their restaurant. FYI - parking situation here is super confusing (wish someone told me when I booked). They have a SUPER SMALL parking lot, there are two adjacent parking lots that both say exit only and it looks like you need to pay. Had to park on Broadway street in 3 hour parking but I didn’t get a ticket.

I've been coming here since the early 2000's. It is a well equipped and comfortable hostel with a northern Ontario quaintness. The rates are very reasonable, even for a private, large room outfitted with a couch. I'd love to see a fire pit added to the amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the building is clean. I've always been able to find a room here whenever I've needed one. This is excellent basic accommodation without frills or luxuries. Be prepared that the stores in town close early, by 6pm (even the gas station) so if you are arriving later than that, stock up prior to arrival

Nevermind expensive motels, this place is amazing! Full kitchen, common area with massive half moon couch and big screen tv, rooms are small but comfortable beds and excellent service from the owner and his staff. Highly recommended for the lone traveler or couples.

Positives: We were stranded at midnight on Friday night and they took us in and gave my friends and I an entire dorm room to ourselves. The staff were amazing! Extremely comfortable beds and the hostel was well equipped! Great kitchen and living room! We decided to stay a second night because it was so great. At 7am I managed to lock myself out of my room and had to wake up a member of staff. He was so nice about the situation (I still feel bad, sorry!), really fantastic staff!
Negatives: There's almost always no one at the check-in desk so we couldn't request the second night stay whilst there

Nice local bar with an independent feel. We went for Maynooth pride night. We arrived pretty late but the staff were really friendly and the bar itself is kind of hip shabby chic. More like something you'd I'd see in downtown Toronto than out in the country with mismatched furniture, nice art on the walls, and a cozy interior. They have lots of live music with listings on their website but we have not been to a performance yet. We have not stayed in the hotel / hostel rooms yet so cannot rate that aspect. We enjoyed our evening even if it wasn't too busy, I'm sure it would have been busier had

This is a great little hostel with clean rooms, comfortable beds and very nice staff. Despite being in the middle of nowhere, it has a lively bar with great selection of beers and frequent live music. This is not a posh place but for people interesting in the outdoor activities around, it provides everything they need.
