Most of the small islands in the Belcher Island archipelago provide breeding grounds for several species of ducks and geese. Rock crevices, lakes and ponds are summer home to many other migrating birds. In late April and early May, the Canada Geese return from their wintering area along the coasts of Delaware and Maryland to their breeding grounds on the Belcher Islands.
The Belcher Archipelago is a group of about 1,500 islands located in Hudson Bay north of the entrace to the James Bay. The Belcher Islands are spread out over almost 3,000 square kilometres, The explorer Henry Hudson sighted the islands in 1610. Robert Flaherty (who later went on to produce the famous film, Nanook of the North) mapped the islands on his 1914 and 1916 expeditions.
Explore unihabited islands as you kayak around some of the 1500 islands that are part of the Belcher Islands archipelago. Kayaks are an essential mode of transportation between the islands. This area is known for its characteristic two-person kayaks that they used to navigate adeptly around the islands and the bay.

The house keepers dont have respect at all, they will go through your belongings and totally ignore the (don’t not disturb sign)
I felt so sorry for the person who was staying over the old hotel because she had a night shift and she didn’t get enough sleep because the house keeper had the loudest music, also one of the house keeper asks for money or cigarettes or even ask around to see if anyone wants to buy a carving. Seriously don’t recommend the hotel! Poor management and no respect at all!

Second stay in three years in this remote village. The Inn is the only game in town. Accommodations are spartan but clean and the water is HOT. An excellent hamlet to visit and the Inn offered a warm friendly base camp. Call the manager in advance to arrange ATV rental and to arrange meetings with local artisans.
