Dr. Shawn Smith has a passion for finding and treating the core problem of the illness that is affecting your pet. His treatment philosophy applies conventional and alternative treatments, with a keen focus on diet therapy and parasite control. Every pet's needs are assessed using conventional medicine, alternative & energetic medicine, nutritionally; and parasitically.

Tell us what you want. Potential to optimize the immune system for hypo-active immune systems (cancer & chronic disease), as well as for hyperactive immune systems (allergies & auto-immune disease). This is Nellie, a 10 week old who came in for her first set of vaccines and a trim yesterday at our Fredericton location.
Services
Appropriate vaccinations, antibiotics, anti inflammatory, deficiency supplementation, symptom alleviation, blood testing and diagnostics, etc. Conventional medicine therapeutics generally alleviates total system burden to allow the body's innate healing and computer systems to heal.

Appropriate worming and parasite control prevent disease in pets and pet owning families; promote wellness; better healing; and protect pet owning families from zoonotic disease.Appropriate diets and dietary supplements to promote wellness; prevent disease; and provide nutients for better healing.
We are the only clinic in the Maritimes using the NMT Allergy Testing and Desensitization protocol. This protocol is a lot better than conventional guessing, skin tests, and blood tests. We are having great results; not perfect; but great. Tell us about your pet's chronic skin, ear, digestive, and chronic problems.

Dr Smith is an excellent veterinarian, as are his staff in both the Fredericton and Oromocto locations. We’ve been taking our two dogs and two cats to the clinic for 10 years and have never had a bad experience. Very good, honest people.

Brought my little weener dog in for yearly needles, the vet was extremely angry at got quite annoyed that my dog wouldn't stop moving (dog was nervous of course) The vet got real rough with my dog and when I spoke to him about this he shut me down. I was charged over $400 for 2 shots, Which seemed high but I didn't know until a year later when I switched vets and went Debbie Sewell and was charged $189 for the exact same shots

I wonder how many of these reviews are fake because this is not a 5 star vet. This is a vet who is only in it for the money, not the love of animals. He is really rough with all animals even the cats and toybreed dogs, and he charges way more then any vet I've ever been too. This man shouldn't be in bussiness, read the reviews.

Wife took our 3 kids and cat that was sick to the vet yesterday. Only had just about half of what was required for the vet bill which was told to the receptionist before hand. The cat needed to be seen and there was not any other option we had. She waited for half hour to 45 minutes with 3 children, took the cat into the doctors office and told him that we did not have the full payment today but had no other option as we were concerned for the cat.
His attitude completely changed and kept saying "that's not enough, that's not enough" "Take the cat out" The cat, which is in its kennel, is having

The vet use to work in Minto and he only seems to care about money. Was always rough with our animals and once over vaccinated our dog. He didn't even put our dog to sleep before euthanizing her. She ran away and started falling down. Most traumatizing thing I have ever seen. Never returning.

Visiting this veterinarian with a dog that I am currently fostering has been one of the most horrible experiences that I have ever encountered. I left in tears. The veterinarian was extremely condescending and belittling, and continued to be despite realizing that he was (and apologizing for it multiple times throughout the visit). He was also rough with the dog to the point where I was uncomfortable and on the verge of walking out. I expect far more from a veterinarian who has been practicing for more than two decades. Perhaps he should take a refresher course on empathy and good bedside manners

We took a cat in to be spayed and we were quoted $270. Right after dropping our cat off they call and say the cat is pregnant and it will be a couple of $100 more than quoted. The cat had NEVER been outside and told them that the cat was just chubby but could not be pregnant , then when we went to pick the cat up they had bumped the bill to $545 because the cat was overweight which was never mentioned until pickup. Total money grab, find a more ethical vet to use cause this ain't it.

I can’t thank Dr Shawn Smith from Main Street Veterinary enough for all his care of all our miniature dachshunds as he’s helped greatly improving their quality of life with his expertise, care and love. I always feel he has the best interest of our pets as his number one priority with his holistic approach to veterinary care. He communicates effectively by telling you like it is. I highly recommend his veterinarian services.

My large dog hates getting her nails trimmed but the staff (especially Wendy) handles her well. The vets is kind and passionate giving me options on how to improve all my pets lives; he is also a skilled surgeon. Without this vets care I would have lost my senior dog years ago.

Worst vet imaginable! If you love your fur baby, do not take them to this vet! We took our dog there because she had a large lump on her chest that had developed very rapidly. We thought it was cancer and had prepared ourselves. She also had an abscess tooth. Dr Smith said the large lump was just an abscess so he put her on antibiotics and removed… her tooth. We couldn't figure out why he wouldnt just drain it if it really was an abscess. Well, it became very obvious to us that it was in fact cancer so we took her to another vet yesterday. The new vet had one look at her and confirmed our
