Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

Phillip was amazing to deal with recently with my moms sudden and unexpected passing. The Dartmouth Funeral Home is locally owned and operated. Very personal service and down to earth. Due to Covid regulations, we had a simple and respectful service that Rev. James Haughn officiated. I would not hesitate to recommend this business for the simple and personal touch. They were nothing short of amazing. Thank you.

It is with great disappointment and a heavy heart to have to write this review as well as share my story.
My mother worked part time for Phil and Julie at Dartmouth Funeral Home which makes this even more difficult, however, I would never want anyone to experience the sorrow I went through after my mother's passing.
Prior to her passing, she insisted I call upon Phil to look after things and she guaranteed me that he would help walk me through all our needs.
Upon my first visit, he was so assuring of how much he was going to help me through this because he did know my mother, we made the plans

When my father passed away in the early hours of a December morning in 2014, I called Dartmouth Funeral Home from the private family room of the palliative care wing. I was still wrapping my head around having spent the night by his side as he passed when Phil answered and after a short phone call I already felt some peace. Phil made arrangements for my father’s pick-up and walked me through the steps I’d need to navigate to announce my his death. He guided me through arrangements and all of the little things that have to be done in such a way, that none of it felt overwhelming. He was kind

My wife Diane suddenly passed away in January which was a complete shock. We had not made funeral arrangements as this was so sudden. I was in a panic and my sister in law (Debbie) gave me the phone number for The Dartmouth Funeral Home. This was at 11:00 p.m. So I called the number from the hospital room and I was expecting to get their answering machine , but to my surprise Phillip answered the phone. I explained to him my difficult situation and Phillip put me at complete ease and explained pricing and everything that they took care of. There was no high pressure sales which also really impressed

I had a close relative die and was looking for a funeral home to get her remains cremated. Also, I was coming in from out west to do it, on a tight schedule, at a very busy time of year. I called *every* place in Metro Halifax - many are the same parent company under different names - and Dartmouth Funeral Homes had the best price. I believe it is a family business as well, not part of a large corporation (if that matters to you).
I was dealing with Phillip and I can honestly say, that he was the best possible person to deal with in the very difficult situation of handling end of life decisions
