Our goal is to guide our clients' businesses through all stages of growth - from initial start-up to the continued expansion of their operations. Our clients share this goal and believe that accounting services should be more than a once-a-year experience. Bluenose Accounting is committed to providing ongoing information that might be useful to our clients.
Services
Bluenose Accounting is a growing three-partner firm with locations in Upper Tantallon (at the entrance to Peggy's Cove Road) and Hammonds Plains (at the entrance to the Kingswood subdivision). We are a team of friendly and approachable professionals who provide services ranging from bookkeeping to personal and corporate tax planning.
Bluenose Accounting prepares personal, sole proprietor, corporate, T3 trust, tax slip (T4, T5, etc.), HST, and non-profit tax returns with an emphasis on tax planning through up-to-date knowledge and tax-minimization strategies.

We apply our taxation expertise and knowledge throughout the year in a wide range of areas, including corporate structuring, tax considerations with buying and selling a business, assistance with CRA audits, and succession planning. We also work seamlessly with professionals outside our firm (in areas such as international tax and corporate reorganization) where beneficial.
Effective tax planning is largely dependent on a properly designed corporate structure. Flexibility in share structure is achieved through share-ownership considerations and often the use of family (income splitting) trusts and holding companies. Consideration is given to the benefits of structures relative to the complexity and costs associated with them.
The accounting function involves providing timely and useful financial information to our clients to assist them with the management of their business and to meet taxation-reporting requirements. We prepare statements on a compilation (Notice to Reader), review, and audit basis. We strongly feel that accounting should not be a once-a-year experience.
An organization might require an assurance engagement to allow it to obtain or maintain financing or as part of its funding and contractual obligations. Many non-profit organizations require an assurance engagement as part of their bylaws, yet the process can be daunting to management. Our emphasis is to complete the engagement in an efficient and cost-effective manner while adding value beyond the simple compliance requirement.

I am the former owner and director of a small business for 33 years, at one time with 50+ employees. Over the years, I have had both simple and complicated corporate and personal tax returns and used the financial services of both large accounting firms and solo practitioners.
I am very pleased with t Bluenose Accounting’s commitment to work with individuals to minimize tax through sound advice and creative strategies that take advantage of new opportunities as a result of rule changes. One can’t expect this complete service during the crush time of spring tax preparation, but it is an added
