Dr. Don Henker and Dr. Whitney Henker are excited to announce the opening of their new Optometry Office, Kootenay Family Vision Care, in Cranbrook. We have been proudly serving our patients in Cranbrook since 1997, and we are happy to also serve Kimberly and Creston, and to continue in our mission to provide compassionate and exceptional vision care to families of the East Kootenays.
Our Cranbrook vision care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision - many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.

Great Service, was quick and efficient and im looking forward to my new pair of glasses coming in. The front staff was kind and professional and was able to direct bill my benefits which was a huge bonus. The appointment time was scheduled far in advanced but that's for all optometrists in the area due to pandemic and other business closing doors. Would reccoment anyone planning to book to do it in advanced and be understanding of the demand on the optometrists in the area. Would definitely reccoment them.

Horrible experience with Mr. Dr. Henkel, rude, un professional, he was not able to complete the exam and was doing nothing to correct the problems. ( fogging of his equipment when wearing a mask) I asked for another mask he abruptly completed the exam and sent me to pay - he only charged 50% of the required fee but could not complete the exam. Another doctor in Cranbrook completed the same exam without any problems. I definitely would not recommend anyone going to see this man. A complaint has been made with the proper channels.

The eye exam was okay. The reason for a 2 star review. Rest of the service was poor. Business hours not updated on phone, web and store front. Staff late opening the store both visits. Today picked up my new glasses and had to ask staff to put on a mask. Customers are required to have a mask. Same should be for staff. Got the impression the owner and staff don't appreciate feedback on how they can improve. Very disappointed. Would not recommend. Will not return.

I had a great experience here! This place is the best when it comes to getting your prescription. Dr. Henker was thorough and explained everything during the exam. They are clean, professional and the service is outstanding. Staff is friendly and attentive. They have a big selection of frames and they are very knowledgeable. I can’t wait to pick up my new glasses. Highly recommend them!

It was my first time to ever get an eye exam and was a bit nervous but the staff and Dr. Whitney Henker made me feel very comfortable. Their professionalism, knowledge and care gave me comfort in knowing that they could help with my vision.
