Services
Dr. Langan grew up on a Arabian horse Ranch in Goodfare Alberta. Her passion for animals started from an early age, Akita dogs & Sheba Inus were also raised on the Ranch, as well a zoo that had Lions, Tigers, orphaned moose and deer and many other animals. After Graduating from University of Saskatchewan, she worked in mixed animal practice in Alberta and BC and chose Quesnel as her home for the past 20 years.
We opened our doors May of 2016. Dr. Ginger Langan has been working in Quesnel for the last 20 years providing service to large and small animals. Our Commitment to you when you bring your pet to Dragon Lake Veterinary Hospital is to be greeted with a smile. We are a client relationship based practice focusing on the human animal bond.
Since your pets cannot tell you when their teeth are hurting, it is important to have a good oral exam done regularly by your veterinarian. Bad breath, rubbing the face, chewing more on one side, these are all indications that your pet may have some dental problems. Regular brushing, as well as dental treats, can help, but are no substitute for an anesthetic dental by a vet.
Any sudden weight change in your horse can be concerning. Abnormal weight loss could indicate things like worms, teeth problems, or poor quality feed. Your veterinarian can help with all of these situations. Weight gain can be a problem as well because it can lead to laminitis (founder), and can indicate a systemic concern, such as PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction, more commonly known as cushing's disease).
Most pet owners know about the dangers of chocolate, but there are many, more unknown dangers that may be present in your home. One of the other big food ones that many people are still unaware of is xylitol. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener used in many different things, like toothpaste, peanut butter, chewing gum, and sugar free candies.

I am disappointed to be writing this review as I had hoped that the clinic would correct their error. I brought my dog in for an examination as she was having difficulty walking. They suggested doing x-rays and blood work on her and gave me a quote. Since the bloodwork wasn't necessary yet, we decided not to do that procedure, which also lowered the cost by a couple hundred dollars. I let them know that the new quote for light sedation and 2 x-rays was within my budget and left my dog with them for the day. After the procedure, they called to let me know she was doing fine and that they did find
