HPSCCC follows the guidelines of Play and Exploration as set out in the Early Learning Program Guide developed by the Ministry of Education- Early Learning and Child Care. This play based approach to Early Learning focuses on high-quality interactions between the Educators and the children. It encourages strong relationship building between Educators, the children and family members.
Early Childhood Educators plan a variety of activities and programs based on the children's interests. They work to provide interactive activities that help children develop in all areas, including social, emotional, intellectual, creative, spiritual and physical. Some activities may include: sensory, creative art, music, dramatic play, fine motor- puzzles, cooking, science, adventurous play, resource people and field trips.

Services
The centre is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of a minimum of 51% parents with children registered at the centre and the other 49% can be made up of people of interest. The Board is limited to no less than six members and no more than ten. Staff members may not be board members even if they are parents.
Humboldt Public School Child Care Centre provides care Before and After school, on non-school days and a summer program. We provide children with the opportunities to explore and participate in developmentally appropriate activities. Such as but are not limited to sensory, gross motor, creative art, music, puzzles, games, dramatic play, science, reading and cooking activities.
Between 6-8:30 am children are dropped off and from 7:30-8:30 older infants will be outside (weather permitting). 9:00-11:30 am- During the morning the children will be presented with developmentally appropriate activities and learning opportunities to help them grow in all areas of development (social, cognitive, language, physical, creative and spiritual).
The following is a list of policies that have been adopted by Humboldt Public School Childcare Centre Before and After School Program. The Program has operations within Humboldt Public School. These policies are being provided to you to ensure a smooth-running Program. Policies may be changed or created to respond to situations that arise.
If you have an infant starting, please provide a daily schedule to help us know your infant's needs. Children are provided with 2 nutritious snacks and a nutritious meal throughout the day, served age appropriate size and food. If the children cannot eat what is being served they will be asked to bring a nutritious alternative.
