Services
Sustainable Energy Design: Aligning energy efficiency in mechanical systems with sustainable architectural design. Comfort Guarantee: Proven design processes which guarantee effective distribution of heating or cooling during all seasons. Efficiency Optimization: Ensuring the optimum sized heating & cooling equipment is selected to maximize energy efficiency.
Heat Loss: A calculation which determines the maximum amount of heat (Btu/h or KW) that is required to condition a building based on the outdoor winter design temperature. The outdoor winter design temperatures are established in section 9.33.3.2 of the 2012 Ontario Building Code.
Heat Gain: A calculation which determines the optimum amount of cooling (Btu/h or Tons) that is required to best manage temperature (sensible) and humidity (latent) of a building including considerations for solar gains through windows and internal heat gains from people and appliances. The one page form is intended to ensure that the Ontario Building Code's 2012 minimum ventilation requirements are being achieved.

I once asked them to design duct system for my old house. They asked me to provide them the floor plan, the elevation and the cross-section info of the house, the wall insulation values, the R-value of my window, the furnace model and its BTU, bathroom exhaust fan info, air exchanger info, and etc.
They told me that they will use those data as input to their computer software to get an output, and give it to me as their HVAC design. What a GIGO (garbage in and garbage out) process!
They explained to me that their design is really and only taking care of the size of my duct system. My duct contractor

Used Design Experts for a full home HVAC design. Matt was very responsive and I received a very comprehensive HRV design and heat load calculation. Turn around was within a couple days, which i would consider very top notch service. Would recommend to anyone building a custom home. Do not trust your contractor to provide heat load summaries, get it done right, and you will be able to significantly reduce the size of your heating equipment for lower purchase cost and improved operating efficiency!
