Started in 1991, Great Slave Animal Hospital cares for animals in Yellowknife and throughout the surrounding communities of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We advocate the respect and humane treatment of all animals by promoting responsible practices throughout every aspect of our services. Our Yellowknife veterinarian clinic has just been recently renovated. Come check out our new client reception and waiting area - and don't forget to bring your furry friend. From permanent pet identification to vaccinations to surgery, we offer veterinary care for large, small and exotic pets. Situated on Highway 3 past the golf course and across from the sand pits, you'll find the wonderful North Country Stables.

Looking for a caring and experienced vet in Yellowknife? Situated in the southern industrial area of Yellowknife, Great Slave Animal Hospital's veterinary clinic has been treating our northern pets since 1991. Dr. Tom Pisz, primary veterinarian, practice owner and animal welfare advocate, has dedicated himself to the needs of our northern pets since the company began.
The Great Slave Animal Hospital is able to facilitate boarding arrangements for canines, felines and a variety of exotic animals. Feline borders are housed in clinic. Sociable cats are welcome to interact at the Cozy Cat Lounge with the Great Slave Animal Shelter's frisky felines. Our doggy guests are housed in our kennel facility.
We are always looking for passionate, experienced veterinary professionals to join our staff at the Great Slave Animal Hospital. Contact our clinic to learn more about our current employment openings. This permanent, full-time position is $20.00 - $27.00 per hour at 40 hours a week. The work schedule includes on-call shifts, overtime and weekend, day, night and evening hours.
The North Country Stables is located on the outskirts of the city, next to the famous Yellowknife Golf Club. The property has four outdoor paddocks, an outdoor riding arena and many riding trails leading through the forested area. The stable building is heated and consists of 24 horse stalls, riding arena, locker room and tack room.
The North Country Stables offer lessons for all levels of riding. English riding is the main style taught, but dressage, hunter, jumper, and driving lessons are available to advanced riders. We offer private lessons and group lessons at a discounted rate. Beginner packages consisting of five private lessons are available as well.
