Services
Dr. Gerald Kersten was born in Edmonton and raised on Vancouver Island in Langford. He attended the University of Victoria for predental studies and earned his dental degree from the University of British Columbia in 1985. Dr Kersten achieved his Orthodontics Certificate and Masters degree from the University of Detroit in 1995.
We have two convenient locations in Victoria. Our main office is our McKenzie office and it is located in the Data Tech building across from Reynolds High School. Our secondary office is located in the Westshore's Pacific Centre for Wellbeing building on Goldstream Avenue. We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. During the initial examination we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.
We recommend brushing after every meal. An electric toothbrush is the most effective way to ensure the most thorough cleaning experience of your teeth and orthodontic appliances. However, with the proper technique any soft bristle brush will do. Superfloss is a stiff-ended floss thread. The stiff end makes it easy to thread it between your braces so you can fully floss between each pair of teeth.
Call our office as soon as possible if you break or loosen any of your appliances. Please do not come directly to the office - by calling us, you will allow us to create a time to see you. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled, call us immediately to notify us if you need an appliance repaired.
