Junkin Law Office
Junkin Law Office represents individuals and businesses in tax disputes in Vancouver and surrounding areas. If you have a dispute involving income tax or GST assessments or reassessments, don't face the CRA alone. It's an old clich that doesn't set the stage for a cheerful attitude toward taxes or the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Whether you are an individual or business, Junkin Law Office understands that dealing with tax law in general - and the CRA in particular - is often incredibly stressful. The CRA is large and powerful, and many of our clients come to us feeling a bit like David facing Goliath. We try to take some of the fear and confusion out of dealing with the CRA, and to give you a sense of control.
Services
At Junkin Law Office, we deliberately keep our office and our practice approachable and informal. Most of our clients are dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), which is not famous for its relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our clients are under enough stress; they don't need a visit to their stuffy lawyer to add to it.
A reassessment can be a difficult experience for any individual or business. It's natural to panic a little - or a lot - when you get a notice telling you that your taxes are being or have been reassessed, particularly if the amounts involved are large. It might feel like you will have to justify everything you've ever done, and that you will be treated as guilty until proven innocent.
Questions of law (in other words, you and the CRA have different views of a piece of legislation). When you disagree, there is an income tax dispute process in place to help resolve your disagreement. Success in using this process may depend on your evidence, your arguments, and the laws involved. Early resolution is often best, since it often saves time and money all around.
The GST provisions of the Excise Tax Act are often more strictly worded than parallel provisions in the Income Tax Act. As a result, the rules that govern them are stricter, and the penalties can be greater. Usually you cannot suspend or delay collections while a GST dispute is ongoing. The CRA may garnish wages, place liens, and seize assets to collect payment.
If you've not filed tax returns or made mistakes on tax returns, or left out relevant details, the Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) lets you correct those oversights without exorbitant penalties. By making a voluntary tax disclosure, you will pay the taxes you owe plus interest, but may be able to avoid other penalties, including prosecution.

Should be called “Junk Law Office”! Took the time to fill in the web request form on her website: name, contact info and brief description of need. After one week, no reply.
Why put this form on your web site and have people fill it out and then you don’t have the courtesy to respond? And this is a law firm? You are supposed to be good with details and timelines!
