I recently bought snowshoes for our daughter at Ski, Surf, and Kayak, and got great advice on which MSR model to purchase. The other shops in town had little product knowledge, but Kevin and his staff did, and recommended one of the women's models with the tried and true three-strap binding. Our daughter loves them. I highly recommended this shop!

After much research on SUP boards and retailers in the valley, I decided on a Kahuna Warrior Braddah 10'3' board from Ski and Surf. Kevin and the staff at Ski and Surf were super helpful in choosing the type of board to suit my needs, and the Kahuna board and reputation for quality and customer service were a big plus also.
After my third outing with the board, which I totally loved, there was a manufacturer defect noted in the cargo securement area. I notified Kevin straight away who suggested to send him pics and he would connect with the Kahuna rep and begin the warranty claim process.

Wow! What a great service!
I had an issue with my skis and contacted the respective ski manufacturer which resulted in an email exchange that finally recommended that I contact a dealer to work things out. After a large store such as SportChek in Victoria refused to deal with it, I remembered that my wife bought new ski boots at Ski & Surf in Courtenay two years ago and found the service excellent. So we went back to Ski & Surf and asked if they could deal with the issue of my skis. They immediately contacted the rep of the manufacturer and negotiated on my behalf. I don’t know what they arranged

I bought a pair of ski boots from Kevin over 20 years a go and remember how much he took the time to insure that I had the best fit possible. So, Ski and Surf was the first place I thought of when my girlfriend needed needed a new pair. Thanks Kevin, again, for taking the time to insure we were happy with our purchase. I had a great shopping experience with Kevin at Ski Surf & Kayak Shop--and I haven't even been to the shop! :) I was looking for a couple of lightweight kayaks and found the two in the photos on-line at Kevin's shop. I called and worked with Kevin and his staff on purchasing them. Kevin and Karin were very cordial, professional, and helped us through the purchase process (Kayaks and accessories). The prices were great for the products, Kevin flexed on a few items too. Not only that, Kevin found someone to transport both the Kayaks and our new gear from Vancouver Island to Kelowna. I had purchased a Mountain Hard Wear 3 season hooded rain jacket from Ski Surf and Kayak shop in the Spring of 2011. I wore that jacket for the better part of four seasons each year until Spring 2017 when after a washing in Tech wash I noticed some of the membrane was was flaking off. I stopped by and spoke with Kevin to checkout getting a new jacket. When I told him why he told me to contact MH head office and send them photos of jacket. He provided me with contact info and said to hold off on the new jacket. I returned home took a couple of photos and emailed to the Warranty Department. I heard

I guess I'm just another naive consumer, as Kevin (the Owner) so kindly pointed out. Their shop didn't do anything wrong, and as the customer it's all my fault for deciding to buy something that I later found to be uncomfortable to wear (after leaving the presence of his friendly and encouraging sales staff).
Apparently he hasn't heard of anyone annoyed about their return/exchange policy - he says that of his 10,000 customers per year, I am the odd one out. His responses to my telephone queries sounded so rehearsed, and his staff are well trained at deflecting unsatisfied customers. Seems as though

Very knowledgeable and kind. Super helpful and verrrrrrry "everything looks great" sales people.. they know what they're doing.
They don't give you any info on return or exchange policies when you leave unfortunately ... I did need to return items and they refused my boyfriends card to refund the money {this was OK as I know some businesses do this} .. only at this time was he told that it was only a 7 day window to return for refund { we live in a separate town }. They were kind enough to call me to tell me their hours changed and they'd no longer be open one of the days{ Thank you }... I returned

I almost didn't buy a sweater I found. It was very close to what I wanted so I googled the price with PrAna and noticed the same sweater was 79$ us with the exchange it would have been about 94$ Canadian. It was priced 99.95 in the store. I showed the owner and he took 5$ off. Thank you so much! Excellent service.
