My father Grafton was a painting contractor on the east coast of Canada. I started learning how to paint from a master painter, my dad. During the years when I was 15 to 17 years of age, during the summers, weekends, and holidays, I worked for my father.

After graduating from school, I went into the residential painting business with my father. He continued to mentor me on true painting craftsmanship.
