The Charter of Rights and Freedoms offers everyone protection from the actions of the police. The police must abide by the Rights and Freedoms as guaranteed by the Charter and where they do not evidence is often excluded by the courts. Our Firm specializes in the Charter and on numerous occasions has successfully defended our client's Charter rights.

If you have been charged with any offence the Charter may apply. If it does we can help. We will consider your case carefully, conduct case specific research, and closely examine the allegations. Our goal is to find the best defence for you. Often the best defence in a drug case is an attack on the warrant.
Services
We provide the first consultation free of charge. You should assist us at the first meeting by bringing any documents you have that are relevant to your case or to your arrest. You should also bring the names and contact information of any witnesses, if any. If we decide to accept your case we will require a retainer.
Ken has over 25 years experience in all areas of criminal law and criminal appeals and has handled over 4,000 cases and has practised in the Lower Mainland for over 20 years. He is well respected by his colleagues for his knowledge and courtroom skills.

Ken has a special interest in cases involving the exercise of police powers such as the execution of search warrants, arrests and warrantless searches, and the use of force by police, including police dogs.Ken has a very high succes rate in any case involving search warrants and has won about 90% of such cases.
Our firm has defended all of these types of cases. The defence of a drug charge is part art and part science. Our lawyers have both the experience and creativity to examine a seemingly overwhelming case and either find a defence. In fact, the founder of our Firm, Ken Beatch, wins approximately 90% of all drug cases that he takes to trial.
Our firm has a busy criminal appeals practice and has handled appeals of both drug and criminal offences. If you have been convicted of a drug or criminal offence, you have the right to file an appeal within 30 DAYS of the date that you were sentenced. Because of this deadline, if you are considering an appeal you should act quickly to contact a lawyer.
