Founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of Peterborough Carpet Land, Whelan's Flooring Centre has grown to become the premier retail flooring store in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. In 2009 we were a finalist for commercial restoration/renovation in the Peterborough Business Excellence Awards for the complete transformation we made to our Chemong Road location.
The showroom is absolutely stunning, matched equally by the new exterior of the building. In the last few years Whelan's has also picked up several Examiner Reader's Choice Awards, 2018 Consumer Choice Award Winner, and most recently, we won the 2019 Service Sector Excellence award at the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony.

I went in looking for backsplash tile. I hadn’t realized it was by appointment only due to COVID, but they were kind enough to let me have a look and one of their salespeople helped me. I found a tile I liked, so took a photo and a sample home. I emailed a week later to confirm they had the tile in stock because I had decided I wanted it, and questions about installation. I never heard back so a week later I called. I was asked who had helped me the day I had been in, we eventually figured it out as I had missed the name. She said she would have the salesperson call me back for the order. I never

Our experience with Whelans was awful. We dealt with them on an insurance claim and we were important to them until they secured our business and were then neglected completely. We were treated as an insurance cheque rather than customers.
Our phone calls were not returned; our installer only brought a portion of our floor with the rest to follow a week and a half later, with no notice given. We were assured the rest would be delivered on a given day, which came and went with no word only to be told when we called the truck was out of service and we had to pick up the order ourselves.

We recently had hardwood flooring installed in our home. We were most impressed with the Whelan team. From Niki who helped us make the correct selection of hardwood to Brad and finally Kevin who did the actual back breaking removal and installation. Wow! From start to finish, things were completed in a timely manner and we were informed professionally as things progressed. Thank you. We would highly recommend Whelan’s Flooring Centre.

I just purchased LVT's for my kitchen from Whelan's, which I had them install. I did have some initial problem with a grout haze remaining on the tiles, which I could not get off. I went and talked with Braden Clark who sold me the tiles. He said not to worry, it wasn't my responsibility to clean that off, and they would make sure that they fixed the problem to my satisfaction.
The man who did the original install came back with a special cleaner, and made sure everything cleaned up perfectly before he left. He was very professional.

I'm about half a year late writing this, but we couldn't be happier with our flooring from Whelan's. Not only was Brad great in helping us choose a hardwood option that would run the expanse of our entire main floor (within our budget), but we managed to get our renovation completed in a timely fashion so we could move into our new house (the guys at Floorwerx were professional and did a fantastic job covering 1500 square feet of flooring with care). Thanks Jimmy and Brad, we are so happy with how it turned out.
