In the 1970's Robert was a botanist, who was drawn to plant medicine. There was very little offered in Canada at that time. He studied in England, Spain, Peru and the U.S, learning what he could about medical herbalism, nutrition and iridology (a system of seeing what the body indicates by looking at the iris of the eye.)
He then started his herbal clinical practice in Edmonton in 1984 and the beginnings of a store in 1988, knowing he wanted to bring bulk tinctures and herbs, essential oils and flower essences into the city. He founded the Scents of Wonder essential oil line, probably the first one in Edmonton. In the late 1980s, he had a thriving practice consisting of clients who wanted to be involved in their own healing using natural remedies.

We carry well over a hundred, pure essential oils and 70 unique blends, ranging from Practical Potions for everyday health, to Into the Mystic Blends for emotional and spiritual exploration. Our blends are all concentrates of pure essential oils and may be used in a diffuser to scent the room, diluted in a carrier oil and added to the bath, or into massage oil.
The Scents of Wonder line of essential oils has been in existence since 1989. Pure essential oils and absolutes are imported from around the world by co-owners Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers. We carry over 100 pure essential oils, many blends, some organic essential oils and some precious oils and absolutes.
I have just received my tiny little one ml bottle of spring rose oil in the mail. I just paid $24.95 for it. It is so tiny, how could it possibly be worth that much money? But then, I take off the lid and inhale and am transported to a rose garden, in an exotic, Asian location. As I inhale I imagine that there are petals falling onto the ground, as lush ripe roses reach their peak.
Essential Oils are potent always use them carefully. As a rule, do not apply to the skin without first diluting with vegetable oil. Some essential oils such as bergamot are photosensitive. Never use and go out in the sun, or under UV lights, as you may acquire serious burns. Do not get essential oils in your eyes.
Originally developed by Dr. Edward Bach, flower essences enjoy a reputation of being highly beneficial and safe to use. Because they contain only minute traces of a physical substance, flower essences are not classified as biochemical medicine. They belong to a new modality of potentized remedies which derive their active powers from life forces within substances.
