Lakeland Chiropractic Clinic
Lakeland Chiropractic is the only clinic within 100 km of Lac La Biche, and the clinic is the only one in the region authorized by Alberta's Workers' Compensation Board. The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, (460 -377 B.C.) was the first physician to link spinal misalignments with ill health. He advised his students to "get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases".

Chiropractic is still considered an "alternative" therapy by many, but in actual fact, it is becoming widespread and mainstream. More people visit their Doctor of Chiropractic with their back pain and headaches each year. The public is also learning the benefits of chiropractic for their other ills: by treating the spine, any nerve interference is removed.
Services
Doctors of chiropractic diagnose, treat and help prevent conditions and disorders related to the back, neck, pelvis, extremity joints and the effect they have on the nervous system. The main form of treatment chiropractors deliver is called an adjustment - a non-invasive procedure consisting of a precise directed movement to help relieve pain and discomfort, and restore range of motion.
All chiropractic patients will experience an initial assessment before treatment. You will be asked to share information about your health, such as any injury or surgery, medications you are taking and family health history. The first visit will take longer than following visits, because a physical assessment will be conducted based on the reason for your visit.
Being regulated means that chiropractors in Alberta must obey all legislative requirements set by the government for all health care providers. Other health care providers that are regulated include nurses, dentists, medical doctors and optometrists. The Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors (ACAC) is entrusted with enforcing the requirements set by government for all chiropractors.
Several decades of research about the safety and efficacy of chiropractic treatment prove that chiropractic is effective and beneficial to patients for the treatment of back and neck related conditions. Because chiropractic is non-invasive, the risk of a serious adverse effect is extremely low.

While most people feel a sense of relief, it is possible that following a chiropractic treatment you may experience mild soreness that should go away quickly. Before you have a chiropractic treatment, ask to discuss any concerns you have with your chiropractor. If you have any lasting effects or concerns, talk to your chiropractor.
Your auto insurance covers you for a minimum of 10 chiropractic treatments for minor injuries under the Alberta Diagnostic Treatment Protocols Regulation. In addition, every Albertan is entitled to $750 of chiropractic care coverage for more serious injuries (under Section B), but access to these benefits varies based on your auto policy.
