Stolk Construction was founded by the current company President's grandfather, Leonard Stolk Sr. in 1955. Formerly a carpenter in the Netherlands Leonard Sr. immigrated to Canada in 1953 in search of greater opportunity for himself and his family. He was quickly able to find work with local companies and did a number of projects for friends and neighbours.
He began his own company a short while later. With the help of his sons he worked to achieve his vision of providing a quality product at a fair price; a vision that has since remained reality. In 1962 the company was officially incorporated and in 1981 Herman Stolk, son of Leonard Stolk Sr. purchased Stolk Construction Limited.
