Kova Engineering South Ltd. provides engineering and technical services to the craning, construction, oilfield, manufacturing, mining, utility, and petrochemical industries. Our staff of skilled professionals are committed and available to deliver timely and expert service for each area of practice we offer.
Stability load testing is completed to evaluate overturning resistance of mobile cranes or aerial lifts to manufacturer and standardized limits. Proof load testing in contrast is typically a static pull test and considered complimentary testing to provide lower level of structural assurances than what has already been established through engineering calculations.

We have acted as the sole structural design and engineering representative for an Alberta Utility equipment manufacturer for over 20 years. The manufacturer has been at the forefront of providing innovative robotic crane attachments for supporting conductors while keeping electrical systems in service.
We were retained to provide professional consultation on the risks associated with hoisting a 40' diameter fiberglass dome and ways to mitigate the risks via special lifting techniques and equipment. The foam filled fiberglass panels of the dome had been subjected to hail and UV damage over 20 years of service and there were concerns with lack of dome structural integrity during hoisting.

I hired Kova Engineering to inspect my lift. They did a good job, detailed report, reasonable turn around time after repairs. However, they charged more than expected (I had received a quote beforehand), their invoices did not explain the additional charges, and their accountant couldn't either. Then they backdated the certificate to the original inspection, effectively certifying it was in passable condition before repairs were carried out, clearly unethical or fraudulent. When questioned about this they said it was "company policy," and they'd consider changing the reinspection date to proper
