Saskatoon Student Child Care

Saskatoon Student Child Care Services Inc. is a non-profit, registered charity that was incorporated in 1982. Its first child care program was Mount Royal Infant Centre, a ten space child care centre for the children of teen parents attending Mount Royal Collegiate, which opened in the fall of 1988.

The Saskatoon Early Childhood Education Demonstration Centre is located in the north end of Mount Royal Collegiate. This area was renovated in 2009 to accommodate the Saskatoon Trades and Skills Center and Saskatchewan Polytechnic programs. SKPoly operates several courses from the building including the Early Childhood Education Certificate and Diploma Programs.

The Royal West Early Learning Centre is located in the north end of Royal West Campus. The centre occupies five classroom areas that house the offices, the kitchen, two preschool rooms, a toddler room and two infant rooms. A large natural playground is located off the main centre area. Ten early childhood educators provide care and education for the children.

The Sharon Van Cleave Centre is located in Mount Royal Collegiate and is primarily for young parents attending high school. It occupies two locations in the school. The childcare office, two infant areas and the centre kitchen are located in the main centre on the east side of the school. The 10 space toddler room with its two early childhood educators is located off the main hall on the south side of the school.

Sharon Van Cleave Child Care and Royal West Early Learning Centre provide a variety of programs and supports for young parents and their children. Our two Parent Program Coordinators design and facilitate programs that will support the development of parenting skills and parent awareness of optimal child growth and development.
