With rising energy prices and growing demand for energy-efficient products and housing, it is important to choose the right products and to ensure they are installed properly. We at Thermo Pro are always striving to be above and beyond industry insulation standards and ensure we stay educated in a rapidly changing environment.
Spray foam can fill even the smallest cavities, creating an effective air barrier. Foam provides excellent resistance to air infiltration and prevents unnecessary leakage which may be costing you on monthly energy bills. Although it comes at a much higher cost than fibreglass, it is definitely among the most superior ways to insulate a home.
A thermal barrier is a material, applied to foam insulation, designed specifically to delay the temperature rise of the foam and prevent it from igniting in the event of a fire. Code requires all polyurethane foam to be covered by an approved thermal barrier. There are a few products available that meet the Alberta Building Code (including drywall).
Batt insulation is pre-cut, fibreglass or rock wool insulation. Batt insulation can be used to insulate walls, floors, attics and ceilings and is most often fit between the framing members. Batts are available in a variety of R-values so it's easy to achieve a wide range of efficiencies. Desired values need to be considered before choosing your framing depths in order to ensure the proper depths are achievable.
A vapour barrier is any material that resists diffusion of moisture through the walls, floors and ceilings of buildings to reduce the buildup of moisture within the assembly. The most common method is using 6mil poly. There are many factors that contribute to the effectiveness of the vapour barrier including products, install methods, framing tactics and atmospheric conditions.

I was very impressed with these guys. I just had them check my attic to see if I needed more insulation. I appreciated the guys honesty as he told me I had the same level of insulation as new homes - so probably don't need more. The fact that they have this integrity, telling you what you need, not just trying to make a buck, speaks volumes!

I had a great experience with this company and all the gentlemen I dealt with. They were terrific the whole way through - from initial planning to the completed job. They provided professional and high quality workmanship, and we’re flexible when other issues came up during our renovation. They went above and beyond to help us stay within our time frame. I really appreciated the clear and kind communication throughout.

During the Alberta Energy Rebate program, I had my crawl space spray foamed. It was estimated that I would receive a rebate of about $1000. Strangely Thermo Pro kept telling me that the rebate is not a sure thing and I may get nothing. This was baffling to me because I’ve had previous work done that qualified for the rebate program and was never once told that I may not get money back. After a few months I decided to call the rebate program and enquire about the status of my claim, only to be told that they had nothing on file for me. Now it all made sense why they were telling me why I may not
