Umbrella Medical Clinic
Umbrella Medical Clinic provides sexual health services for all ages, all genders, and all orientations. Our vision is to become a strong, caring voice for sexual health services in the Northern Ontario region. The Umbrella Clinic is similar to other medical practices except that we are focused on Sexual Health.

We have received special designations by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Ontario Medical Association in 1) Obstetrics and Gynecology & 2) Infectious Diseases. You can call or email us to book an appointment with your OHIP or UHIP cards so you don't have to pay for services. You may have to pay for services if you do not have coverage or OHIP.
Services
We are fully covered by OHIP for Canadian Residents (we do require your health card number, or UHIP number for services to be covered). We have received special designations by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ontario Medical Association in 1) Obstetrics and Gynecology & 2) Infectious Diseases.
The idea of Umbrella Medical Clinic was hatched so to speak by two incredible women. Bella has been a doctor since 2003 and has held many practice roles, including Sexual Health. Aldona is a Registered Nurse since 2011 and has worked in Sexual Health for the majority of that time. They are passionate about Sexual Health and always looking to learn more and help others!
No, you don't need permission to visit our clinic. Ontario is different from many other provinces in that it affords anyone no matter their age complete control over their own health-care decisions unless they are deemed incapable by a physician. Everything, including STI tests, remains confidential.
We are conveniently located on an easily accessible bus route on Algoma Street at the Thunder Bay Medical Centre. Please note: if driving you will need to pay $2 parking at the Thunder Bay Medical Centre. There is a change machine on site. Our phone line is not monitored after hours and is not intended for crisis situations.
REMEMBER: No form of birth control can protect you from STIs - but Condoms (both male and female) come close! When you arrive, present your health card and we bill OHIP for services that are covered (some things are not always covered). You can contact us and we will get you in to discuss your options.
