The original building at the corner of Mary and Brown Streets constructed by the Hill family in 1900 was purchased by Percy and Laverne George in 1958. The operation of a funeral home was established at that time to serve the needs of the Bruce Peninsula. The facility has continuously evolved and changed to meet the needs of the community.

The most recent renovation involved the construction of a new onsite reception facility. We at the George Funeral Home are committed to providing the absolute best care we can for you, your family and your friends. We strongly believe in the tradition of funeral services and the valuable part they play in grieving and healing.
Services
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have what we refer to as a tribute service. Decisions need to be made about the location of the funeral, the choice of casket or urn and who the pallbearers should be.
No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home, a church, or other place of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not. You have the option of having the remains interred (earth burial), or it may be entombed in a crypt inside a mausoleum (above ground burial).
We at the George Funeral Home understand that every family is unique and therefore every funeral service is unique. We pride ourselves in customizing every service to create a meaningful tribute to the life of the person being honoured. While we fully acknowledge that planning a funeral service can be overwhelming, our Directors are available to answer any questions you may have.
Giving a meaningful, moving eulogy can be a nerve-wracking situation for even the most accomplished public speaker, but it need not be. How can you summarize somebody's life in a few short minutes, while being both somber and funny at the same time? Writing and delivering a eulogy is a therapeutic tool to help deal with your grief, and being chosen to give a eulogy is an honor and should be treated that way.
