PGMHA is seeking a volunteer who would be interested in taking the lead on this volunteer position. After many years our long time volunteer, Val Hopwood, has retired from running this fundraiser for PGMHA. Recreational teams are not permitted to fundraise outside of the Skate-A-Thon fundraiser. The proceeds teams raise from the Skate-A-Thon were used.
Prince George Minor Hockey Association (PGMHA) would like to thank Canadian Tire (Prince George) for generously sponsoring PGMHA's Learn-To-Skate Program! PGMHA's Learn-To-Skate (LTS) program is open to our new-to-skating participants and benefits these young players by introducing them to skating before they attend their regular season programming!

Services
PGMHA is proud to offer our Learn-To-Skate program for new skaters! There will be 6 x 45 minute sessions. There will be 2 per weekend on Sept 11/12, Sept 18/19 and Sept 25/26. Your player will be required to attend in full hockey gear. Please review our Recreational Hockey Information page for detailed hockey equipment requirements.
Hockey Canada has undergone a major software upgrade during May & June. Services and functionality continue to come online and improve as they work with their completely new system. As a result, we have adjusted our volunteer sign up process to accommodate learning a new system and some potential bugs.
You will need your certificate numbers and Hockey Canada ID number to apply to be a Team Staff volunteer. Step 9, applying to be a Team Staff volunteer, will still need to be completed once you have recorded all your certifications. Your CRC expiry date is not yet showing in member's Spordle accounts, as a result when you apply to volunteer with PGMHA, it does not ask you for your CRC expiry date.
Female Hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and PGMHA is working toward a fun and inclusive hockey model to develop the skill and confidence of all female participants. Females can join as early as our U7 program and will graduate minor hockey after U18. Once they reach U13 there are two streams to follow, a player can continue to play in the recreational stream or they can play at the development/representative stream.
The majority of PGMHA players play recreational hockey. The PGMHA is a "no body checking" Association for all recreational levels up to and including U18. The emphasis is on fitness, fellowship, sportsmanship and fun. Player placement is made after evaluations based on skill level. Many of our recreational divisions have multiple tiers (up to 3 sometimes) with multiple teams (this varies but typically 4-8 teams per tier).
