Academy Of Expressive Dance
At The Academy of Expressive Dance, respect is the underlying factor in all of our programs--respect for the art form we are learning, respect for others, and respect for ourselves. The Academy prides itself on being a top-notch, performance-based school-- where teamwork, kindness and friendship blossom.

We teach professional dance balanced with fun, creativity, and laughter. Andrea, the director and instructor, has been teaching since she was 15 years old, and has attended untold teacher workshops and training as well as being certified with the C.D.T.A.,

Training young children in the concepts of movement sequencing, patterning and spatial relationships lays a strong foundation for the later development of reading, mathematics, and other educational skills. Students in our Early Childhood Dance Program work actively in all of these areas.

Three year olds are quite new to learning how their bodies move, as well as how to behave in a class situation, so we gently introduce them to the classroom environment.Because this age child loves and needs repetition, the same class is repeated several times before being changed. Through the use of scarves, shakers, sponges, and other props, we explore different movements and ideas using our imaginations and stories.
Whether your dream has always been to be a ballerina, or you are just interested in ballet for it's countless benefits, ballet class is an excellent place to start your dance training. There are so many forms of dance that ballet lays a foundation for--jazz, tap, ballroom, plus tons of folk dancing, even some hip hop!--if you start learning ballet first, the rest will magically fall into place for you.
Historically, Jazz dance developed in North America from African slaves, Spanish invaders, and European sailors. This "melting pot" of styles gave base to what then went on to give birth to the radical change in the 1950's of "modern jazz". From there, jazz dance has tended to be directly related to cultural fads so, in this way, jazz dance has a constantly changing style.
Tap dancing is a style of American theatrical dancing distinguished by percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor. Tap class always begins with a pre-warm up that helps to get the blood circulating and to prepare your muscles for the demands of the rest of class. The barre is used as a means of support in the next segment of class where the basics of all subsequent steps and movements are introduced and practiced.
Explore the world of arts and crafts! From painting, to screen stenciling, to beading, to wreath making, and everything in-between! Learning how to do stuff will also include lessons on how to clean it up afterward! Each session offered will have a list of projects we will complete; and each class we will do a different project.

Andrea is the kindest and most patient person. She truly cares about her craft and making a community out of her studio. I highly recommend the Academy of Expressive Dance if you’re looking for a positive dance experience for your family.

The best of the best. Accepting of everyone. It doesn't feel like just a dance studio. It feels more like a family. This entire summer our daughter has asked almost daily when does dance start again. Truly the best experience so far. Can't wait to see what next year has in store for us.
