Founded in 1960 by Grant Buchanan and Ray Barry, Buchanan Barry LLP started from humble beginnings. Frustrated with the staid and inflexible structure of the accounting establishment at that time, Grant and Ray sought to bring a more human approach to the accounting services they provided.
Grant and Ray left stable employment with a local firm (now, since closed), promising to themselves that a practice built on solid relationships with clients as well as associates would prove more fulfilling than the "old boys club" they left.While much has changed in the past five decades, Buchanan Barry LLP remains true to Grant and Ray's vision.

Tammy graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1996. She qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 and completed the CICA In-depth Tax program in 2002. Tammy joined Buchanan Barry LLP in 1996 and the Leadership Group as Partner in 2007. Tammy provides audit and assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services for a wide range of private and non-profit organizations.

Low quality employer. Managers are some of the most pathetic individuals with no social skills that tries to bully new people straight from university. All of them are "home grown" loyal lackey's for the owners that has never worked anywhere else so they have no imagination and Stockholm syndrome from the abuse they received so now they want to pass it to others imaging themselves as the boss.

While I am not a client of this firm, I have clients who are. Based on their experiences, I will state that they are very happy with the service they receive. When I ask for information from their accountant here at BB, it is provided promptly and courteously. Their accountant genuinely cares about them, their family and their business. I can’t imagine the other negative reviews here are actually posted by the people whose names are associated with the reviews as they are both from accountants at other firms. I would read them with a tremendous grain of salt.

Stay away from this unethical company. The owners and managers treat their employee's like dirt and lay them off after they worked there for many years or after they got their designation. This place takes advantage of the CPA training program to get cheap students to work on bookkeeping and small business financial statements and charge clients over the top fees.

Disorganized company that likes to keep customers waiting. Questions and emails take weeks to get a response to and their fees are inflated. This place does lots of window dressing pretending to be a large office but the majority of services they provide and the clients they cater to can be serviced by most accountants in the city. Don't pay thousands of dollars more for financial statements printed on a fancy cotton paper.
