Over 40 years ago Hans Stickling began attending local, weekly farmer's markets in the neighborhood of his home village, in Germany. He loved everything about these markets; being outdoors no matter what season, the travelling, the flurry of activities at the markets and being able to connect with his regular customers.

Stickling's beneficial sourdough cultures create wonderful delicious wholegrain breads. Discovered some 2000 years ago in the Middle East, sourdough cultures metabolize the sugars and starches from the complex carbohydrates of the whole grains. Our bread is allowed to naturally ferment with our own carefully raised and well-aged sourdough cultures.

Purchased light rye on Thurs. 2 white stickers on bread showed best before date 0520 so I'm guessing this bread was made in May and frozen for future sale. Lightly toasted 2 slices, bread curled in toaster and came out hard. What a waste of $6. So much for fresh bread, yuk!
Yes the bread was purchased at your store. The lady serving the counter gave me the loaf from the shelf at the front window so it wasn't purchased as seconds. The slices were actually stuck together when I removed them from the package.

Love that this is an authentic German bakery with all the types of breads and baked treats that make me feel nostalgic! Always loved them at the Saturday Market but I enjoy the cozy storefront which also has German preserves and other familiar goods. Staff are always kind and get you what you need! Hard to find good German baking outside of the GTA so happy that this bakery exists.
No sign for the bakery on the big plaza sign, and can be hard (impossible) to spot from the road, so be sure to keep an eye out for the building number or you will drive right by!
