Kootenay Dance Academy

The Kootenay Dance Academy has provided qualified dance instruction in the East Kootenays since 1991. We are pround to have a wonderful team of instructors and staff and look forward to offering all students another fun year and rewarding year. I began my dancing career at the age of four in my hometown of Allan, Saskatchewan.

With the onset of the dance season, many of the why's and wherefores of the Dance World seem to add more confusion rather than clarification or enjoyment. The intent of this information is to give you, as a dancer or parent, some of the insights, reasoning and knowledge as to why the studio operates in the manner that it does.

One of the first questions posed by families getting involved in the Dance World is quite simply: What does dance have to offer my child? Discipline- The art of dance expects both a mental and physical discipline for it's execution. Educators have noted how these are also carried into the classroom as well as life in general.

As many students will be new to the studio, a further expansion on the subject is required: Studio uniforms will be mandatory for all Pre-School and Kinder Dance classes (ages 3-6) as well as all Ballet/Modern/Lyrical & Contemporary classes. We have been pondering the concept of studio uniforms for several years now and have decided to finally put this practise into place.

At Kootenay Dance Academy we offer instruction in tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical/contemporary, jazz, street jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, acrobatics, stretch and conditioning and competitive and development team classes. Mommy and Me: Tiny Tots - Tumble and Twirl - Ages 2.5 -3.5 (30 min per week) - 10 Week Sessions.
