Stay on the historic Opeongo Line, where Moore's Creek joins the Madawaska River, at the edge of Bark Lake. The housekeeping log cabins, built in 1947, are fully reconstructed and furnished with basic amenities. This is the simple life. Pack lightly, keep it simple. Let Moore's Falls lull you off to sleep at night after watching the Big Sky.
Services
From Highway 60: Turn south at the hamlet of Madawaska on Highway 523. The driveway is on the right, exactly 2 km from the intersection, just beyond the bridge over Moore's Creek. We now have street addressing, so beside the big red sign at the top of the drive is #6471. If you are approaching from the south on HWY 62, in the village of Maynooth, turn north onto HWY 127 toward Lake St. Peter.

I can't let you know what is available if I cannot contact you! It is also sad to call someone and get the message that the voice mail on the account has not been configured.
Pick berries or mushrooms. Take a hike. Swim in the river. Have a nap. Visit Moore's Falls. Watch for wildlife in the morning mist. There are excellent meteor shower, northern lights, and stormwatching opportunities*, circumstances permitting. Check space weather and event forecasts for your vacation time.
What is a Housekeeping Cabin (or cottage)? What is the difference between a cabin and a cottage? Is it ok to drink the water? Is it clean? Do you have winter rentals? How old are the cabins? What is in the cabins? How often are the cabins cleaned? How often are the washrooms cleaned? What is check in time/check out time?
I would like to receive communication for information and promotional purposes from Red Deer Log Cabins. There is one photo on this website that is a file photo. The rest have been taken by friends, clients, volunteers, and me. Can you spot the file photo? Winners receive a 1/2 day canoe rental with 2 paddles and jackets.

I absolutely loved this place! The cabins were really cute and clean. The bathrooms were clean and I never ran out of hot water while showering and it was super hot. The location was perfect with tons of gorgeous nature everywhere. Close to the Algonquin entrance too. Sandra the owner was quite a character. So sweet and accommodating. She just seemed like a really interesting salt of the earth lady. Honestly I can’t wait to go back. I will definitely be staying here again. Hopefully next time I get to see a moose!

Sandra is very nice and welcoming! Sandra managed to find a cute little cabin for us last minute for labour day weekend! She was gracious enough to upgrade us to a larger cabin after the labour day weekend madness left without us having to ask her. That was very thoughtful of her! The cabins are very clean and comfy and have a great view of the lake. I just wish we caught a fish but that could be our own doing lol

We stayed at Red Deer Log Cabins for three nights and we were lucky enough to save the best spot for our tent in front of the beautiful lake. The owner was so friendly and it's the perfect spot for visiting Algoqiun Park and the surrounding area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly come back next time.

Red Deer cabins is a quiet and peaceful spot to relax and enjoy pristine nature close to Algonquin. Sandra takes great care of the campground and cabins and she has great respect for nature. Likewise most of her guest think the same. It's the perfect place to canoe hike swim and take in that wonderful fresh air. Thank you Sandra for a fantastic 3 days! We will be back!

We stayed in this beautiful cabin for the Thanksgiving Weekend. What a wonderful time we had! This place is so cozy and inviting! We enjoyed sitting on the front garden overlooking the serene and beautiful Bark Lake. The weather might be gloomy but the peacefulness and postcard beauty of the place more than compensates the not-so- good weather. We look forward to visiting again. Another plus, the owner, Sandra is so helpful and accommodating

We absolutely love coming here. It's so serene and beautiful. Fishing is great and the little sandy beach is so relaxing. Sandra (the owner) is very nice and fun to chat with. She keeps the grounds very clean and appreciates when guests respect her property as well. This is a place to really relax. Not crowded during the week but can busy on the weekends - not like the provincial parks. You can pretty much always find a camping spot here.

We spent two nights here for a paddle to the waterfalls. We had a great experience. The campground was quiet (mid August) so privacy was not an issue. The campsites are all in view of each other. There is 4 or five red log cabins, as the name describes, but the rest is campsites. The owners were helpful, and quirky making the place quite interesting! The wood for sale was dry and well priced. The showers are clean and very warm. There are outhouses among the campsites, very clean and well kept. The comfort station is small (one shower for each men/women) but clean.
