Services
Our story begins back in 2009, with the start of Cilantro Catering. After a couple functions for friends and family under our belt, we began a search for a more permanent home and stumbled on one in Ponoka. With the addition of Cilantro and Chive in 2012 we have never looked back. In 2014 the building we leased had sold and our lease was up in 2015.

I've been going to this restaurant for years when travelling up and down Highway 2 to Edmonton. The food is consistently great. One of the best restaurants in Red Deer. The duck wing are must-try and so are the burgers. Great selection of craft beer from across Canada and the US. Oh, I think they must have about 100 different kinds of beers. Honestly, it's the only restaurant I will eat at in Red Deer.

Our team here at MS Schippers Canada loves to support our local businesses, and Cilantro and Chive is always our first choice for lunch and dinner! We enjoy bringing our customers and international colleagues here for the great atmosphere, large selection of food and drink, and outstanding service & staff! When you dine here, you are also supporting the local farmers, producers, craft breweries, and great local talent that create this one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of Lacombe!

A couple of friends and I went in December, we chose C+C because up until covid hit we always had great service and always surpassed my expectations. I was put off for a while as we attended over summer in the 40+ heatwave and our waitress was forced to wear a mask (there was no mandate), which felt like an endangerment to the employees overall health. However we decided to try it again!
We were greeted at the door and asked to show our papers, one of us had the QR, my friend and I had the privately paid for test. The waitress told my friend and I, after thoroughly reading through our papers,

Well Cilantro and Chive you have done it again! Every time, which is very often, you deliver the best dining experience, with phenomenal staff, an awesome atmosphere, and next level delicious food! There has… not been a time when we have left, doing a happy and full waddle, not blown away by the consistency in the service and food here! It asks if your likely to recommend, there’s not a HELL YES button! Something I appreciate as a local farmer is that they support local with the food they prepare and the charities they support! So thank you Cilantro and chive for making a lifetime

What a great place! So happy we finally got here - will be back! Cocktail flight was so fun and unexpected, loved the Pinky lemonade the best. Mac and cheese balls were great but let's be honest... Anything in that balsamic/maple/ketchup sauce would be. Had the October special and it was so unique fresh and delicious. Chicken was really tender. Everyone loved their meals, the place was fun and clean. Our server was really exceptional and all the staff seemed to happily support each other. Thanks for a great Autumn outing and fabulous meal!

Super great place to eat. Presentation on all dishes was fantastic. We were in a large group too. I don't know if it was normal cause this was my first time but my Nashville hot chicken sandwich was waaaay to overcooked in the batter. I could tell it wasn't the norm. Had the chicken breast been a normal deep fried one it would have been really good. The waitress never came to ask"how is everything?" Nor did she come and ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. So in that sense it was odd.

Our group of 4 was looking forward to eating at this local restaurant. We phoned ahead, and were told the patio had tables, but no reservations could be made. No problem - we headed over right away and arrived within 20 minutes. We saw lots of tables outside, but were told none were available because the chairs were broken. (???). Inside, due to reservations we were told it would be a 3 hour wait. The girls at the front were very rude to us. We saw 3 other parties get told the same thing. Lots of business and cash lost! We won't be back!

This place has a very casual and laid back atmosphere. The outdoor patio on the street was very well covered with large umbrellas and not cramped with chairs or tables. Servers were friendly and visited the table multiple times and water was automatically brought without asking.
As far as the gluten free food goes, this place takes celiac very seriously, asking how severe your allergy is. My only gripe is the menu options that can be made gluten free is a little sparse (you can sub penne for their spaghetti, or you can have a gf bun on a couple burgers). One great thing about this place is their

My boyfriend and I drove down from Edmonton on a Sunday afternoon to check out the hype.
It was ok.
The food was good, I had the chicken club sammie and it was large and juicy chicken and the bread was soft, served with fries and an aioli.. also good.
My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles, the waffles were large but not fluffy, they were dry and hard. Chicken was yummy though.
Lots of craft beer cans to choose from but with the drive we only had shared one.
Service was meh, she did her job just fine no complaints but I feel like when a place is so hyped up the service usually brings a certain

Really interesting and tasty combinations. If you traveling on Hwy 2 and want something better than gasoline alley in Red Deer, try Cilantro and Chive in Lacombe. We had the lamb burger with blueberry goat cheese and roasted pepper aioli on a toasted sesame bun. My wife couldn't seem to eat it fast enough! I had the steak salad with arugula, edamame, red onion, radish and sprinkled with sesame seeds and served with a strawberry peppercorn dressing. Very fresh and Extremely tasty. There is also a very large selection of craft beers and sodas to suit every taste.

Visiting from Edmonton on a Wednesday night you'd think a reservation wouldn't be needed. All the tables had guests seated! That's a good sign of things to come.
We reserved for Thursday night, and after leaving somewhat disappointed we couldn't be seated, I was happy to get a call 5 minutes later that a table became available, so we quickly returned anticipating a great dining experience.
No wait to be seated upon our return and began scanning the drink menu! Don't plan on domestic as there are none, but 12 pages to choose from of feature brews, non-alcoholic, cocktails

It's probably the most unique place I've been to in Central Alberta. I make an effort to drive to Lacombe to eat here. Staff has always been friendly and food has been alright.
The duck wings are killer - and I also tried the Noodle Bowl, which was pretty much salad - so that was kind of a let down. But, other features and items on the menu are definitely worth it.
I'm don't drink anymore - but, if you love a wide assortment. This is your place!

Well, what can I say. There are many awesome things about this place, but a couple negatives as well. My bf and I traveled to Lacombe specifically to try Cilantro and Chive. The pictures of the burgers on Caesars looked epic (Caesars that Eat like a Meal), and truly, I should have ordered one of those!
Instead, I went with my craving of the day, which was fish and chips. Maybe I had bad luck, but I am a fish and chips pro, and these were mediocre at best. Super thick and greasy batter, and hardly any fish. One of my pieces felt like a chunk of batter more than fish. Having said that, I was in

I know a lot of people go completely bezerker over this place, but to be honest, the food is just meh. The service is really good and friendly, the place is clean and nice and even the menu's concept is really well thought out... It's just that the food doesn't really deliver unfortunately! Need more seasoning for sure! I had the Caesar Monte Cristo lunch special / not awesome in execution but the idea was good?
Maybe they just need to keep practicing!
Again, service was really good!!
