Our passion to help others inspired us to open a small private practice in our home in 2007. With only a modest ad in the yellow pages and positive word-of-mouth advertising, our tiny practice rapidly grew, requiring us to relocate to a larger office building within a year.
Through a combination of many factors, including a strong commitment to our values of honesty, integrity, and respect, our passion for excellence, and our warm, down-to-earth style, our practice continued to grow, and we responded by adding more professionals, more support staff, and more and more offices!

Services
At Sullivan + Associates, we are a team of Master's and Doctoral-level mental health professionals committed to providing high-quality psychological services in Thunder Bay and throughout Northwestern Ontario. We offer comprehensive psychological assessments, psychotherapy/counselling, workshops, and consultation services - all in a warm, inviting, and culturally sensitive environment.
We accept each other and treat each other as equals. No one is better than anyone else; we all have unique talents and abilities that we bring to the team. We communicate in a respectful, open, and honest manner. We believe that silos belong on farms not in organizations, valuing teamwork over independence.
Fees for private psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). However, coverage for psychological services is often included in extended health benefits plans, although the extent of coverage varies from plan to plan. We recommend that you check with your employer to find out about your coverage.
For the convenience of our clients, we accept cash, cheques, major credit cards, and debit. Most extended health plans offer some degree of coverage for psychological services, although these plans vary. We recommend that you check with your employer or insurance provider to find out about your plan coverage and claim procedures.
Psychotherapy and counselling refer to treatment methods that help individuals address a range of issues, from dealing with normal life challenges (e.g., coping with stress, handling conflict, etc.) to more significant difficulties (e.g., overcoming trauma, managing debilitating panic attacks, etc.).

My youngest daughter had her very FIRST in clinic session scheduled today following a year of virtual appointments due to initially co-vid then having had an accident and limited mobility with 2 fractured thoracic vertebrae. She did however attend some virtual sessions but it was always challenging due to the technical difficulties in sending her meeting codes/ID's to enable her to sign in via computer and attend virtually from her bed. I would have to call from my busy workplace to attempt multiple times to get her signed in with her counsellor as she really looked forward to the sessions. Codes

I had my first appointment here after my brother had told me that he was really happy with the match they made for him, and I felt quite the same way. I had a phone appointment, but I would have preferred to be in person. Regardless, the lady I was speaking with still made me feel very heard and understood, and I left the session feeling more hopeful and in control than the usual exhaustion I feel. Highly recommend!

I attended my first session this past week. I had a pleasant experience. Upon entry I was immediately greeted by the secretary who was friendly. I was checked in and brought to my session shortly after. Although I have only attended one session I do feel that my therapist is a great match and look forward to attending more sessions.
