The Village Emporium gift shop is located at the corner of Queen & Pleasant Streets in the seaside village of Chester, Nova Scotia. Surrounded by an eclectic variety of local businesses, breathtaking scenery and friendly residents, we are proud to be a member of this thriving community. Our gift shop proudly houses a wide variety of locally handcrafted products and a selection of items from away.
With contributions (and very reasonable prices!) from over 20 vendors, there is something for everyone whether you are looking for a gift or a treat for yourself! We even have a section of ladies (only) clothing on consignment! Our unique model means each of our vendors is their own small business within the shop.

All the goodies that fall under The Sparkling Starfish belongs to us, Pat and Angela, owners of The Village Emporium. We do create a portion of the great jewellery we sell. Our own classic strands of knotted freshwater pearls, earrings, bracelets and fashion necklaces mix well with our selection of jewellery from away.
In my retirement I wanted to get back to my creative side. I was hooked immediately when I tried Fluid Art. It reminded me of playing in the mud as a child, good messy fun. No one wanted to try my mud pies back then but hoping you will enjoy my Fluid Art creations today. I am also proud to offer vintage black and white photos taken by my Grandfather Robert Norwood and Sable Island photos taken by my father Ned Norwood.
Our business, East Coast Beach Sand, is a family owned and operated company. Like many craft type businesses, ours began as a hobby. For several years, while going through the trial and error process, we just gave away our creations to family and friends; and simply had fun with it. In 2003, after several gift shops showed an interest in our products, we decided to take the leap and form a company to make and sell our creations.
Kathi Giberman from Patternworks has been supplying customers worldwide with her original and innovative products since 1987. Included are one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces using sterling silver and glass beads, many of which are hand-crafted in the Czech Republic. As well there are pins, earrings and necklaces made from miniature quilt and Celtic patterns, using her own artwork.
My name is Torill, I was born in Norway and I have lived in the St Margaret's Bay area most of my life. I have always loved to collect distinctive items, paint, draw, make crafts and do photography. Many of my creations are inspired by birds & nature and our beautiful land and seascapes of Nova Scotia.
