The Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. We have an in-hospital laboratory and radiology department for patient diagnostics, as well as the capability to do endoscopic examinations and ultrasound. Our practice has three Registered Veterinary Technicians, two Veterinary Technicians and two Veterinary Assistants.

One of our Veterinary Technicians is a graduate of the Canadian Veterinary Dental Technician course. We are a multi-doctor facility, allowing us to tap into the multiple areas of expertise that each individual veterinarian brings to the practice and for the review of cases by more than one doctor when needed.
Services
We have a dedicated team of staff who do their best everyday to take care of our patients and their families. Benefit: Laser surgery results in less bleeding during surgery, and less swelling and discomfort afterwards. This results in a faster recovery time for pets after surgery. Benefit: This allows us to better evaluate a pet's oral health and to make decisions that will make that pet healthier and more comfortable.
Our children's tour has been designed to be both educational and fun. It involves having a look at interesting samples and x-rays, donning a surgical mask and seeing a pet (stuffed animal) hooked up for surgery and having a visit with some friendly pets. After the tour is complete, the children get to relax and enjoy a cookie and juice in our reception area.
We, at the Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital feel that it is important to "give back" to our community and to support various pet-related charities. The following are some of the events our staff members participate in throughout the year to show our support. During the month of October our hospital staff raise money for the Farley Foundation.
Dr. Stuart: Graduate of Ontario Veterinary College, 1999. In 2015, after more than 15 years of running a successful locum practice in both the U.K. and southern Ontario, he decided it was time to leave the city to move north with his family to where their hearts always were. In his practice, his passion is to find the patterns in his patients' illnesses to improve their quality of life and prevent future illness.
Jo-Anne: Graduate of Seneca College, King City, Ontario. Jo-Anne is a friendly and easy-going member of the staff who enjoys interacting with our patients and their owners. She owns a Boxer cross named "Libby". In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Rich, camping, golfing and walking Libby.

Had to bring my dog Cyrus here too say goodbye. One of the hardest days of my life. The staff here offered so much love and compassion. Everyone at this clinic made a difficult time as bearable as could be. Based on my recent experience I have trouble believing the negative reviews for this clinic. I was not a client and they did not hesitate too help me. The kindness, understanding and support they offered was unexpected. Thank you so so very much! The card you sent me was beautiful and personal. Also made me cry. I cried alot through this whole experience and everyone here gave me the support

Had some not so great experiences at another vet in town before this vet. Staff are friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable here.

They were semi helpful with the passing of my dog. Rushed her to vet asap as they’re listed as an emergency vet, told the receptionist my dog was unresponsive but still had a heartbeat and needed help immidiatly, she didn’t act very quickly but the vet who we met after was very polite of her passing giving us time to say our goodbyes as she passed on right as they took her in, and offered us cremation services.

Some of the most compassionate people you will ever meet. We brought our cat to the the Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital when he wasn't eating. Unfortunately he was at a stage that there wasn't anything that could be done to save him, but they made him comfortable and helped us have some extra time with him. All the staff at the facility were extremely kind and helpful and you could tell their compassion for the pets was real.
I would recommend this practice without hesitation.

Molly is very shy and Murphy does things her way... Like hiding in the garbage cabinet. Dr Smith is so great with them. Always pleased.

The animals get the best care and the staff was s amazing, but it is becoming increasingly expensive to afford to have a pet. One needs to have pet insurance to cover the bills...1500.00 approximately for dental cleaning? Medication costs almost double what it costs at Shoppers, and that is if that is even an option. I am not sure what the solution is for those with little money or on a pension, but with it being harder for new fur parents to even get in as they aren't accepting new patients either, there needs to be some other solutions for pet care....walk in animal clinics ??

I’m from out of town and desperately needed to get my dog in as she has an ear infection and is in a lot of discomfort. Was told the clinic was not taking new clients. I again explained my situation, I didn’t need a regular vet but again was denied. Surely as an industry that’s is supposed to care this was very disheartening especially since I work in the health care industry and we as a team go above and beyond everyday for our patients that need us. 😢

My dog had an accident and is in a lot of pain and needed TTA surgery. lots of people recommended Dr. Smith so I called. A lady said she could book my dog in for August 23 so I said ok I will call back to figure out financing because they don't do payment plans and this procedure is almost $5,000.00. a few hours later I called back and I got a different lady and she said no there are no appointments and she doesn't know why I was told that. I was then told to get a referral sent over and Dr. Smith would be in the following day and I would get a call to book a tentative surgery date. I called the

I had the unfortunate pet owner experience of having to put down my cat recently. Dr. Beveridge and the entire team of people at TBVH were incredibly compassionate, informative, and empathetic to the situation, and made sure that my cat and I were given privacy and cared for to a level that exceeded my expectations. Many thanks to everyone there for making an awful situation as positive as possible.

We are extremely pleased with EVERY experience we have had at this clinic. The staff, vet techs, and doctors are all knowledgeable, professional and kind. We purchased the premium puppy package last year when we got our first puppy. For all you first timers out there, we HIGHLY recommend this option. We had multiple phone calls and vet visits our first year (and I mean, MULTIPLE), and we were always properly cared for. We are truly grateful for this amazing team of animal lovers because they made our first year with our boy so wonderful and eased our minds when he was wounded and sick. Thank you
