The mountains of the Yukon are echoing some good news these days: Alpine Bakery is now officially Certified Organic! The only Bakery North of 60 in Canada with this recognition. You will see the new labels on our products that guarantee a recognized national standard - everything produced at Alpine Bakery is made of 100% organic ingredients.
You can trust the label. The process to be able to use it represents many steps and over a year's work to establish, to check and to monitor closely all aspects of Alpine Bakery production. We have been organic for a long time - the difference now is the formal status under PACS (Pacific Agricultural Certification Society) which allows us to display the label assuring you that we produce the highest level of organic food possible.

We caught this bakery by accident shortly before their closing time and there was nothing left on the shelves which I think speaks volumes to how good their fresh made product is!
I did notice that their fresh eggs were $9 which I thought was a little bit expensive (I am from Alberta where a dozen of farm fresh eggs are $4) but this could be the standard in the Whitehorse area for eggs. They had an excellent selection of jams, pickled items, spicy mustard, yogurt etc and while I did not look at the prices that closely, nothing else stood out to me as being unreasonable.
I will definitely be trying

Even though I didn't take any food picture while i was there but let me tell you very honestly that they have so so so much of bakery goods that you will have hard time deciding on what you want to eat.
Everything is freshly baked in brick oven so imagine the freshness and taste. For sure its not regular grocery store so prices are little on higher end. Not too too expensive though.
I tried pumpkin spice latte which is very creamy and flavourful , a person next to my table was raving all about the yellow spice turmeric latte. Apple strudel i had just melted in my mouth and i am guessing

No breakfast food except muffins, scones, bread, granola and cookies. We were a little disappointed because we were hoping for an actual breakfast. Looks like they do have soup, sandwiches and dahl for lunch. But the baked goods they did have are fantastic. Made with healthy and interesting grains such a spelt, oats and buckwheat. And my muffin was definitely low on the sugar, which I still loved it! They also sell an assortment of organic foods, such as yogurt, housemate pastel and hummus, granola, and some canned and dried foods also. Lovely garden outback growing tons of variety of veggies

Probably some of the most consistently great bread you will ever have. They've been baking for decades and the taste and quality does not waiver. The Alaskan sourdough is a classic. Good place to pick up a treat and a few staples (like olive oil, tea, etc). Call in advance to have bread set aside. They often sell out.

I lived in the Yukon for 5 years and was vegan for 2 of those years and vegetarian the whole time and only visited Alpine Bakery a handful of times and purchased something twice. The prices were extremely high, even for being in the Yukon. I had a piece of raw cheesecake one time and that was good but nothing special for the cost and also had a vegan slice of pizza and it was again okay, nothing special. I think it is far more economical to make your own items but it's still nice Whitehorse has a place that offers vegan/vegetarian food.

The first bakery I tried in Whitehorse. Peaceful vibe, just a short walk from the main street in town. I had a sandwich and muffin, both were very good. The other pastries and bread looked delicious and the soup smelled amazing. Places to sit inside and out. Walked by when they were closed about a week later and saw a woman in the garden gathering veggies and tending to the plants which they use in many of their goods. I wish they had been open because I would have loved to try the soup.

Alpine Bakery is an oasis of calm in Whitehorse. I think what Suat and his team are doing is nothing short then amazing. They use top organic and vegetarian ingredients, traditional recipes and lot of love and passion to create their products. Yes prices are higher then your "ordinary" bakery but you can't compare natural organic food with synthetic, factory processed pastry. If you want high quality, "vegan friendly" incredibly tasting food and support many of Alpine Bakery social activities to built stronger local community there is no better place.
